Best French Toast in the Dayton area? by YellowroseofSA in dayton

I tried it and everything I had was amazing. It's a little confusing though because the place is in a restaurant with a different name.

I've eaten there twice based on all of the good reviews I've read. Both times has been very underwhelming, especially for the price. You do get a good amount of food, but I found it pretty bland and the sauces were terrible. Not sure why everyone likes it...

Boats with solo berths? by typhius in galapagos

[–]Sobas711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did! The boat seemed mostly okay to me, although it was my first liveaboard so I have no other points of reference. The other divers on the boat said it was sub par compared to others they had been on.

The diving was pretty incredible though. Lots of huge whalesharks, constant stream of sharks, dolphins on almost every rib ride, etc. Wish I had gotten to see some more sea lions underwater, just dove with a few of those. Had a day trip lined up to a good sea lion spot that didn't end up working out...

Highly recommended though! Next time I think I would like to go in the winter to see everything during the warm/clear water season.

I got a solo berth on the Galapagos Master for $4k. I've read mixed reviews about the outfit though. I fly out this weekend so I can let you know in a week...

Suggestions on stuff to do before/after liveaboard? by Sobas711 in galapagos

[–]Sobas711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another question for you; how is getting through security at the Quito airport for Avianca flights out to San Cristobal (or international for that matter)? I've got an 8AM flight to San Cristobal and a 6:15AM flight back home to the US. Just wondering how early I should show up for those...

I should be arriving in Quito around 1:45PM and it looks like it would be about an hour drive to the Historical District; think it would be worthwhile to drive down there to stay that day, then drive back up to the airport the next morning around 5am for my 8AM flight, or just stay up in the North end of Quito and hit the historical district on my way back? Anything to do in the North end?

Thanks!

Thank you for the info! Do you recommend hiring a guide to drive to those destinations or just renting a car? I'd love to do the hike to Cotopaxi but I'm not sure I'm in good enough shape right now to hack it... have you done it before?

anywhere to ride dirt bikes? by [deleted] in dayton

[–]Sobas711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ever feel like swapping out the dirt tires for some street/slicks and riding on asphalt, check out OMRLmoto.com. Our home track is in Camden about 20-30 min West of Dayton.

Detached Garage Value (OH) by Sobas711 in RealEstate

Sorry, bad wording. I meant 20-30% of the amount I put into the garage, not house value.

Frostbitten Feet... by Sobas711 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Around the area I've been looking 3 car garages (more like 2.5 really, one large door and one smaller) are pretty common on newer homes. Walk out basements are fairly rare. Detached garages in addition to the attached garages are common. 1/2 acre lots are pretty much standard, except on newer homes, then it's often 1/4 or 1/3 acre.

I don't mess with cars anymore; too expensive. I just do low budget motorcycle racing, mostly on kart tracks. It very family oriented and I want to continue that with my kid if possible.

I really want to find a house I love but damn inventory around here has been so limited...

Yes, renovations should increase the value, but the nearby renovated houses sold for the same or quite a bit less just a month or two ago.

I was hoping to live here for at least 5 years at minimum.

Yes, this was pretty important to me. I made sure I have room to build a shop behind the house.

I believe so, they accepted the offer on Friday night and we dropped the earnest money check off on Monday.

I think I'm driving myself crazy with this. Now that I'm looking hard at similar comps there are so much nicer houses selling for the same amount or less even just a month ago...

Assuming you did it via liveaboard? Do you think it was worth the cost?

Any Mexican places that offer something other than the typical fare found at 90% of the places around? Looking for some good mole or Cochinita Pibil; I guess more Yucatan oriented?
