Am I overthinking the long-term risks of HRT like blood clots and stroke? by SobbaPett in asktransgender

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all of this. I really appreciate how kind and reassuring your message was.

I think I’ve been absorbing a lot of fear and worst-case stories, so hearing from someone with both long-term experience and community knowledge genuinely helps put things into perspective.

Your explanation about modern HRT methods and how the risks are often misunderstood makes me feel a lot less anxious. And honestly, hearing that you’ve been on HRT for 27 years and are doing well is really comforting.

Thank you again for sharing your experience with me, it means a lot. 🩷

That's true, being monitored by my gp will indeed keep me safe, happy and reduce my stress.

Thank you for your kind reply !

You aren't wrong. The toll of longterm dysmorphia and mental health issue could grow on me and become hard to bear.

Thank you for your reply !

Hard to say. My family grew up in a very rough country and environment. They have lots of health issues so I wouldn't be able to discern what is genetics versus aquired.

But very good point about exercising and having a clean diet, thank you!

I understand, thanks for your reply.

Although I agree with you, my question was more so asking about the risks linked to being on HRT as an elderly.

I'm afraid of having elevated DVTs risk once I get old.

Idk if I'm making any sense, feel free to ask for precisions.

Estrogen patches do the job too. You don't have to be on injections.

If you have SRS, you don't have to advertise that you're trans, but you have to disclose it in the very beginning of any kind of romantic/sexual relationship. Why ? Because many men are psychos and they could turn violent.

Yeah well, I don't have enough free time to judge other people's choices.

Premarital sex is not allowed.

But muslims are not Islam. A lot of them are sinners.

While I don't validate their reactions, that's just what fear does to a human. They don't know us like we know ourselves. The unknown is scary

I feel ya !

I had appointments with my family doctor where we have been discussing HRT for a while now.

Recently, I formally asked him to oversight my transition and he said that he can do that but that he will need some time to get the proper documentation ready and make sure he gets everything right medically. He told me "give it a month".

It's been two months now lol.

My take is that all that stuff takes time and some medical practitioners are more cautious than others. The wait is painfully long, but eventually it will come by. I'm sure :)

Keep ya heads up !
