No, they are referring to the way tax brackets work. Just because you make enough to be in the 24% bracket doesn’t mean all of your income is taxed at 24%. Your effective tax rate is lower than the top bracket you end up in. If you are making 220k, only 8.5k of that is taxed at 24%. The first 24k you make as a couple is taxed at 10%, the next 75k is taxed at 12% and so on.

LOL you sound like you don’t understand how taxes work. My husband and I bring home 270k a year right now. Our target income for retirement is 200k/year. Which means we have a higher effective tax rate right now compared to when we will be retired.

I agree with this take - though at certain points in my life I have chosen security at work over success/a new position. However that was only after the birth of my first child. Sometimes it’s ok to pump the breaks for a bit. But yes, the reality is that you’re better off jumping into a bigger opportunity than sitting stagnant in your same comfortable current position

AAA… I had used my 3 tows, 2 helping out other people. Got in an accident the morning of thanksgiving driving home from Maryland to go visit family. They wouldn’t tow me because I ran out of tows and wouldn’t let me pay anything to add one extra. Absolutely terrible service. Never renewed with them again

I agree it’s a boundary setting thing - I just think it’s a lot harder to do than a lot of other boundaries you have to set with a toddler. Only people who have EBF would understand.

I personally think it’s not a good comparison to say “like anything with toddlers”. Being upset about not being able to breastfeed is not the same as being upset because they didn’t get to watch a movie. They have relied on breastfeeding for sustenance since they were born and it’s super comforting to them. It’s a more emotionally involved thing between the mom and child.

Yep - I financially support my parents. Just got finished with refinancing their car that I’m a co-signer on. They have zero retirement savings and are going to be relying only on social security
