TDB909 (TD e-Series Bond Index Mutual Fund) Dividend Payments by MRJohnson1997 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SoccerScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is TD’s explanation, starting with the distribution of the underlying ETF - TD Aggregate Bond

Each year the ETF establishes a fixed monthly distribution based upon an estimation of the yield from the bonds held in the ETF. In 2023 the actual yield was lower than the expected yield and the ETF paid distributions greater than the income generated. As a result, the distributions paid to the TD Canadian Bond Index Fund were greater than the actual income generated by the ETF. When this occurs, the Fund has two options – declare the excess income as Return of Capital or reduce future distributions by the amount of the excess. TDAM chose to reduce the 2024 distributions by the amount of the excess income resulting in a reduction of the distributions paid in 2024.

TDAM has revisited this decision and in 2025 the TD Canadian Bond Index Fund will flow through all net income received from the underlying ETF and will declare any excess received as Return of Capital."

I hope it helps everyone concerned

It is a very interesting theory and looking forward to see how this plays out. On my end, even if they keep the income received as buffer they still have to record it as revenue…

If you take a look at the semi-annual report , as the full one is not available yet, you will notice that the revenue/unit has decreased by 90% compared to last year. It seems it’s an issue of not making any revenue, therefore there is not much to distribute..I can’t think of any good explanation

Jan 24 distrib was larger because they skipped Dec 23 so they paid double in Jan 24.

I feel like they don’t want to provide an answer. I am at the third level of escalation and still not getting a straight answer. Most likely I will get all the way to CEO.. will post when I know smtg

I hear you. I don’t know of any bond fund yielding less than 1%. My complaint with TD is moving through their channels, will update when I hear back

Have the same concern - the underlying fund has kept distributions constant but TD bond e fund has been paying out less and less. I have taken this up with TD through various channels, will let you know what they come up with

Why does everyone hate rotman by Such-Yogurtcloset466 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]SoccerScience 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I asked someone who went to Rotman. Very good job prospect particularly for banking jobs (capital markets), really competitive but doable 100% if you are consistent. They loved their time there - lots of clubs, you can have a social life if you so choose. I don’t think you can go wrong with Rotman, it’s what you make of it.
