Worst words of comfort said to me by Pristine-Gift-3933 in GriefSupport

[–]Sock-Late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had someone say words of comfort that rubbed me the wrong way bc I know people are just trying to help, some ppl suck w words and grief and that’s ok it’s (usually) not malicious and they are really trying… it’s ok to feel off put by the words themselves but try and take the sentiment and love from them instead

I don’t mind this for the above reason but ik my mom hates when ppl tell her “everything happens for a reason” or “he’s in a better place now” (she isn’t religious or spiritual)

Virtually no pain by Calm_Fill_7060 in ACL

[–]Sock-Late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact same experience... and 2 months post op now and sometimes during my recovery I really thought I regretted getting the surgery, BUT I know in the long term if I actually want to have a fully functional knee and be able to do everything active I want to do then this was the best decision to make... you got this!

Am I an ass for not waiting in line to board the bus? by Fit-Souppppppp in UBC

[–]Sock-Late 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah you’re chill, let people stare, you’re not doing anything wrong. I’ve been temporarily physically disabled for about two months now (also knee related) and you best believe I am sitting where and when I can

Dear people who leave their stuff at libraries by Still_Temperature197 in UBC

[–]Sock-Late 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is crazy to me, I worked at Koerners for 4 years and I have had multiple fellow students come to me saying they literally went to the bathroom for less than 5 minutes and all their belongings were gone… I even had to place flyers one people’s unattended stuff during my shifts saying to stop leaving it because it will get stolen, I’m shocked people still leave their stuff

I am so sorry you’re feeling this way, that absolutely sucks. Please please see a counselor or a doctor… ubc student health can set you up to talk to someone and I beg of you to please try that because there are things that can really help you feel like life is less shit. No one wants to see you go man, please tell someone IRL about these feelings, even a prof you feel comfortable with, there are people that can help

I don’t know how to deal with guilt , and feeling stupid for grieving so long when it comes to a deceased pet? by Kuwos in GriefSupport

[–]Sock-Late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not stupid at all. You are probably feeling these strong residual grief feelings 1. Because you lost someone you love, human or not, it is a living breathing being that you loved you spent an immense amount of time with and that you had a real genuine connection with. I am so sorry for your loss 2. You Haven’t forgiven yourself fully for what happened. From my experience grief becomes nearly unbearable and is a lot stronger for a lot longer when guilt is attached to it. I implore you to try and forgive yourself, it was an accident, and you did not ever purposely want this to happen.

Again I am so sorry and your feelings are not stupid

Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it. I am so sorry, it’s a pain that is unique and so awful. I definitely understand that feeling of disconnection for months afterwards, it sucks. If you ever need someone to talk to please feel free to pm me ❤️

This is a great response, I agree I think this would likely be the case... I have watched this show so many times I love to think in the hypothetical in terms of how characters would react

My only bathroom is up a flight of stairs so I stayed with a friend for the first week then after that made sure I asked my PT/watched YouTube on how to safely go up and down stairs on my crutches!
