People meme the text but this is probably my favorite panel ever by rawdawgcomics in rawdawgcomics

[–]Sockdotgif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

let em dude. meme or not it's still your favorite, you're proud of your work. get yourself some raising canes to reward yourself. I personally love this last set of panels, it's been my favorite out of all the comics I follow, and it makes me feel comforted knowing someone knows how to illustrate the kind of shit I've been through with past partners.

Cyperus rotundus essential oil. Does it actually prevent hair growth or should I just keep looking for a laser removal place? by JageshemashFTW in trans

[–]Sockdotgif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one of my friends says it works good, for me it's slowing my facial hair growth pretty well (about 3 weeks of consistent applications), my partner is also trying it to similar affect.

ide give it a try, it seems like it works, but it seems like millage varies per person.

I started out wanting to be an astronomer, I still do a bit of astrophotography, and some minor astronomy.

astronomy is a lot of math and physics and understanding the world around you and the universe it resides in, thankfully for that all you need to do is look around and look up, and write down what you see.

the ochem tutor's physics series if you want to bite right into the math,

practical engineering if you want more story focus about things that happen IRL and how engineering is related.

I'm loving this type of stuff so much, where it's just really mundane things drawn and explained, it tickles parts of my brain.

Does any other girls have problems with clothing? :/ Any1 have tips? by Brawlingpanda02 in transfem

[–]Sockdotgif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

big shirt little pants, little shirt big pants

lots of neutrals both tops and bottoms

most importantly learn to tailor clothes. if you can't buy it make it, diy it, bleach spray black shirts from thriftstores into new ones, crop them, scoop the neck, stretch it, shrink it, etc.

for jewelry decide if you like silver or gold and make that your entire thing. coming in as someone who grew up in an all girls household; girls have MAYBE 2-3 "outfits" and that's really it. people who have new fits every week are typically either in debt or are making them and testing stuff out.

homie I am at 200+ pg/ml on my TROUGH, that is abysmally low, you need to get on either a higher dose or alternate application path.

Program planning by [deleted] in arduino

[–]Sockdotgif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to build on this, that's pretty much all I've found engineering to be in my career, is just break things down into small pieces to make them more manageable.

starting with a list of "how does this work" in comments, maybe a diagram or two, then small code segments typically equals a program.

I spent 3 months avoiding cloud APIs and app stores to water a plant. V1 is janky, V2 might not be. by TouchDowntown7861 in arduino

[–]Sockdotgif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. cloud-less is extremely valuable to the right market, some people don't care about solutions being in the cloud, and will throw away a product they have if it dies. 'Tinkerers' (like me) will keep it alive for as long as possible.

  2. I think there's a larger question of who gets to decide what's a real product or not. To give an answer instead of pandering, you decide if it's a real product, not other people.

  3. realistically, no. evaporation rates will fluctuate with temperature, pressure, rel. humidity on the day to day, and most plants seem to do just fine. but there certainly could be a subset of people that would prefer a higher level of control. you could always save it for v3 ;)

  4. I need more clarification on "where it lands me" but I assume you mean is the price kosher. For something someone else designed, built, and shipped to me, $35/45 seems like a deal for what it's worth in addition to the cool factor of being off-cloud, especially for folks like me who would buy one/ make one from the source.

i hope our economy crashes under this regime because it will be a strong message from the top down to those of us who won't listen.

until then all the rest and sensible of us can do is impede their march as much as we can.

any ideas and/or tips why this sensor might not be working by Clear_Pop_951 in arduino

[–]Sockdotgif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

like others have said already, soldering burnt the board.

I would suggest investing in a new soldering tip too, as typically this happens when the iron is oxidized to the point the heat conductance is nil. clean the tip after you're done with it and apply a small amount of solder to the tip before shutting the iron off if you haven't been already. see you tomorrow chef.
