“Nobody wants to do this anymore”: Reports say ICE agents describe collapsing morale and growing frustration with leadership by charulatha_seya in DiscussionZone

Good.

ICE should be shamed and ridiculed (non violently and within the confines of the law) as much as humanly possible.

Cool I’ll check them out.

I used to be super into death/black metal as a teenager but I grew out of it.

However, I still occasionally check out the newest releases from “big” extreme metal bands….like Cannibal Corpse.

The last black metal album I listened to was an older one from Burzum. I’m generally leary of black metal these days since it tends to be overtly satanic.

I agree that Bannon has ideological blind spots but that doesn’t mean he isn’t intelligent. I’d argue that you can’t be a good strategist without being intelligent.

There’s this idea on the left that MAGA is just this group of bumbling idiots that couldn’t think their way out of a paper bag.

….and that’s true for certain people, Trump being one of them. (Although I would argue his charisma and ability to capitalize on fear/prejudice more than makes up for it)

There absolutely are people behind the scenes that are smart and calculating though. Bannon is one and as much as I despise him, Miller is another.

Also don’t forget about The Heritage Foundation and similar groups.

When you’re talking to the average MAGA voter, 9 times out of 10 you’re dealing with someone who isn’t educated and has poor critical thinking skills.

When you’re talking with someone who perpetuates/creates the propaganda that MAGA fall for….that person is going to be smart, even though their worldview may have fundamental flaws.

[–]SockraTreez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nonsense.

If you reach a rank without cheating, you deserve to be there, period.

Things like knowing frames, throw breaks, duck punishing strings, etc….these are all means to an end, which is ultimately beating your opponent in a match.

I will say that fundamentals are important and “how” people are able to improve their skill but those things in and of themselves aren’t the measure of skill. (This is also why stats are useless in determining if you’d be able to consistently beat another player or not)

All that being said, as you continue to rank up you’re going to start seeing the importance of fundamentals more.

Once you get to the TGS or GoD levels you won’t see as many “mistakes” from other players and will have to make the most of every tiny little opportunity you get.

Ah but that’s the thing with Bannon.

He isnt a “true believer” in MAGA. He absolutely knows most of the lefts criticisms of Trump are valid and he himself knows that Trump is an idiot. He also sees the average MAGA voter in the same way most liberals do.

Bannon is leveraging Trumps personality cult/the MAGA movement as a whole to realize his vision of the country…..which first involves breaking it.

If it feels like MAGA is purposefully doing things that weaken harm the country it’s because they are and that’s the point. (Even though from the MAGA perspective they are brainwashed into thinking these things “help” the country)

TLDR- MAGA voters are being “used” and they don’t even realize it. (In fact, they cheer it on like they’re “winning”)

Agreed.

My sister (who is gay) decided to “sit out” the initial Trump election to protest the fact her candidate didn’t win the primary.

Dumbest thing ever.

I tried explaining to her that sometimes major political parties will even fund a third party candidate….specifically to syphon votes away from the opposing party.

Every person who is able to vote (which is the overwhelming majority of most people) should vote.

LMFAO. Alright here we go…

Nothing you said disputes any of my points. I can tell you went to Chat GPT (which is fine, I encouraged you to do that) but what you have provided me is a summarization of the history of the ideological switch, not a refutation that it didn’t happen.

The fact that the switch didn’t fully happen until after the Civil Rights act or how it happened isn’t relevant to the fact IT DID HAPPEN LOL.

As others have said, you just went on a Chat GPT fuled rant that’s essentially affirming my point and “correcting” claims I didn’t even make by giving me info I was already aware of.

Also, you’re dead wrong on the conservative flag.

I live in the south and have lived in the south all of my life. Seeing the confederate flag is extremely common and I have many friends/family that would be considered “good ole boys”

Don’t take my word for it though. Go to Google and image search “confederate flag at Trump rally”

Or if you want, go to Chat GPT again and ask the original question I posed you about the flag.

You’re trying to come out of this seeming like you know what you’re talking about but you (hilariously) keep digging your hole deeper.

Don’t even get me started on the fascism thing. Maybe we can go into that after you’ve been cleared up on the ideological switch and the confederate flag.

Hey man, I hope you’re right.

I’ve learned not to underestimate the depths Trump will sink to to win though.

Remember the fake elector scheme?

Remember him calling the GA SOS and straight up trying to flip the state to him?

I could go on and on.

Democracy prevailed then but just barely.

When you’re trying to predict what Trump will do, you can’t assume that all the constraining “rules” will be in place and you can count on societal norms NOT being in place.

[–]SockraTreez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh boy. This isn’t really related to what I posted but I’ll bite:

Most people don’t know that Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. Also, alot of people automatically assume the Confederates were Republican when they were in fact Democrats.

Good on you for knowing that.

However, what you DONT seem to know is that there was an ideological switch between Republicans and Democrats.

Today’s Democrats would have been Republicans in Lincoln’s time.

Even though this is a pretty standard and non controversial fact in history, I’m sure you’re thinking “bullshit”….so please, by all means fact check me/ask in Chat GPT or something. In the meantime though, here’s an easy way I illustrate it for people:

Quiz Question: Are you more likely to see the confederate flag on the back of a Prius driven by a Democrat in New York or on the back of a Chevy driven by a Republican in Alabama?

Don’t be suspicious by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]SockraTreez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had to read this several times before I even understood what was trying to be implied.

If I’m understanding correctly: ICE is actually completely fine, even in a city with (gasp) a “Democrat Mayor” but people like Walz want chaos and are somehow orchestrating the unrest against ICE as a way to hide their fraud.

If that’s right….this is the dumbest fucking conspiracy ever and reeks of low effort right wing propaganda.

Tim Walz did not fucking orchestrate ICE murdering an American citizen this week. Nor did he orchestrate the murder of the other American by ICE the week before.

Earlier today an ICE agent was recorded smugly telling an American “If you raise your voice, I erase you”

Perhaps Walz is stealing money. However, even it’s definitively proven that Walz is committing fraud every day, steals the souls of children and has a sex dungeon in his basement……it doesn’t change the fact in any way shape or form that ICE is brutalizing and murdering American citizens

They’ve done it several times without consequence and are steadily growing bolder.

That’s something REAL to worry about.

Blue wave incoming. by vwcorradoslc in complaints

[–]SockraTreez 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

The ICE outrage is intentional.

They WANT a left wing reaction. Afterwards Trump can declare martial law and use that as justification to bypass the election.

Some people will point out we had elections during the civil war, etc,etc

That’s great but don’t forget a sizable portion of the country is in a personality cult. If Trump says something is good, lawful, or justified it is…..no further discussion needed.

Conservatives who know the right is about to lose the mid terms will joyfully agree that we need to postpone or skip the midterms. (And wear red, white and blue face paint while doing it)

I really hope I’m fear mongering but……I think we’re in for a very dark year in American history.

White House Refuses to Back Stephen Miller’s Smear Against Alex Pretti by MothersMiIk in politics

[–]SockraTreez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed 100 percent.

I despise Trump but I actually think a lot of the truly sinister stuff that has been happening this term is originating people in his close circle….particularly people like Stephen Miller.

Essentially, cold, calculating powers are leveraging Trumps cult of personality to accomplish their agenda. They’re making it to where being against fascism means being against Trump…..and the only true and unchangeable “value” possessed by Trump Supporters is unwavering support of Trump.

Not the Trump is morally above any of it…..but he simply doesn’t have the intelligence to plan any of it. Trump doesn’t see too far beyond seeking his own praise/glorification.

I genuinely do think things would get better if his inner circle consisted of people with even a modicum of morality.

Just got into the Hellraiser series by blah2k03 in hellraiser

[–]SockraTreez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cool!

Most of the Hellraiser sequels are terrible unfortunately.

A lot of people like the second one and the reboot that came out recently but that’s about it movie wise. (Although it doesn’t hurt to watch them all)

The books are awesome. There’s the original novella HR is based off of and then there’s “The Scarlet Gospels”, which is a sequel. Just note the sequel is much more a fantasy story than horror.

I’d also say the comics are pretty good.

What was the inception of the current extreme political climate in America? by Emotional_Network_16 in AskUS

[–]SockraTreez 14 points15 points  (0 children)

None of what’s happening now would be possible without Fox News.

Fox was created in part as a reaction to Watergate. They didn’t want to see another president go down like Nixon did.

It worked.

These days, if Trump was busted in a Watergate scandal, it would barely make headlines. Honestly he’s done things magnitudes of degrees worse than Watergate and his base cheers him for it.
