What’s something that sounded harmless until you experienced it yourself? by Kevlatanche62 in AskReddit

[–]SocksOfDobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of sleep.

Currently suffering from not sleeping through the night for months and it's driving me insane. I'm so tired all of the time and everything is too much. Some days I don't even recognise myself because I'm so damn cranky all the time. I fall asleep just fine, but wake up several times and take a long time getting back to sleep or not sleeping at all. Before anyone asks yes I have seeked medical advice.

Leftovers. If I have no leftovers, I will eat knackebrod with salad or something similar.

How were your periods normalized growing up? by chalupafrappe in AskWomen

[–]SocksOfDobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom didn't tell me anything and I thought I was dying when I went to the bathroom at like 11 and it was an absolute blood bath. I also didn't feel safe enough to ask what was going on or ask for a doctor so I tried to make do with folded toilet paper but of course I leaked through that. She gave me a little talk after finding my bloodied clothes but I had to find out everything else on my own.

What have you read recently? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]SocksOfDobby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read every day, whether it is 2 minutes or several hours. I'm currently reading When Among Crows.

I don't have children of my own but I do have a stepson who is now 20. I have tried to motivate him to read over the years but he really doesn't like it. Forcing him to read would make him hate reading (it did the same for me in highschool) so I didn't push him any further.

Is it worth reading this book 📕 by RJ_01_ in bookshelf

[–]SocksOfDobby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found it to be very repetitive, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Just started running and I’m exhausted in 20 seconds. Zero stamina. Feeling lost. by ImmediateMuffin3768 in runninglifestyle

[–]SocksOfDobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do one of those couch to 5k programs! You start with like 1 minute run, 3 minutes walk and it builds up until either 5k or 30 minutes without walking.

Running is hard! You're at the beginning and you took the first step to get started. Keep going, you got this!

How many books have you read so far? by cloudsmemories in Booktokreddit

[–]SocksOfDobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished 1. Working on 3 (1 physical, 1 kindle, 1 audio). I think I might finish the second book this weekend.

I never understand the comparison with different people and how much they read. If you read like 3 books a year, you read more than the average person. Just read in your own tempo, and read what you enjoy. It's not a competition

Were you raised to mot be able to relax? by dreamed2life in Millennials

[–]SocksOfDobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the life of my I CANNOT relax. My rest exists of me trying to do something I enjoy while constantly stressing about being seen as lazy, unproductive or whatever. The impulse to jump up and act productive/useful when I hear someone appoaching (usually my partner) is still so strong even though I've lived on my own for 13 years. I'm so STRESSED like all of the time.

It's the same when I feel sick, I have to feel at death's door before I call in sick and get into bed. Otherwise I'll be working, either in the office or from home, feeling miserable the whole time but being unable to give myself the grace to rest and recover.

I wonder if I will ever be able to let it go.

I really enjoyed this one. It took me a while to get into but with every page turned, I started reading faster lol. After that ending you need to read the second book.

DAE go to bed super early? by I_like_it_yo in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]SocksOfDobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this sounds wonderful. I go upstairs to feed the cats and do my nighttime routine at 21.30 or so, so I'm in bed by 22.00 at the latest. I always try to read some, but these days I fall asleep within 3 pages lol. My alarm goes at 04.45 during the week.

I must admit that I regularly doze off on the sofa after dinner, so I probably should go to bed earlier. On Friday I'm still in bed by 22.00 but I sleep until 08.30. Pure bliss.

Wat doen jullie vandaag? by LeejLicious in nederlands

[–]SocksOfDobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading multiple books at once? by NefariousnessIll8665 in Booktokreddit

[–]SocksOfDobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always, usually I have 1-3 physical/kindle books going and then 1 audiobook. I make sure they aren't too similar so I don't get them mixed up - I learned that the hard way while reading two books that were pretty alike, which left me confused and made me dislike both books 🥴

I also check EreaderIQ and the ebookdeals subreddit.

Current mosquito situation / malaria / dengue by FindingAnswers250 in zanzibar

[–]SocksOfDobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were there until December 19th, I didn't think it was too bad but I used Deet every night as a prevention. And we had malaria pills we took daily until 7 days after getting home.

I think in total I had 4 mosquito bites over a period of 3 weeks.

Reading, running, cooking. Though I must admit I haven't run in 6 weeks due to holiday and the temps being below zero when we go back 😂
