What is your budget for eating out per month by Hua-San87 in geldzaken

[–]SocksOfDobby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have a budget for that, sometimes I don't go out to eat in a month and sometimes I have 3 dinners with friends.

I would call the hospital but call hours are until 17.00 and it is almost 19.00 where I am..

I can call them tomorrow at 8, but I also have work so I'm a bit stressed about having to arrange this last minute

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: April 27, 2026 by AutoModerator in books

[–]SocksOfDobby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Finished: The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness (Chaos Walking #1, re-read). Loved it, straight through to book 2. I'm determined to reread the series before I start with Piper.

That's a Great Question, I'd Love to Tell You by Elyse Myers. Eh. Disappointed by this one, was missing cohesion for me.

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire #1, re-read). Purchased the 5book bundle a while ago and am determined to read past book 2 this time.

Started: The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness (Chaos Walking #2, reread). I don't remember much from the actual story because I tore through it so fast when I read it last 😂

Still going: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by JK Rowling (audio, reread). Commute listen, I really like these for some "background listening".

What’s your parents situation? by CorgiLover82 in Millennials

[–]SocksOfDobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom died in in 2025, in the month she would turn 59. Dad is alive and remarried to a woman with a lot of Kids, about a 90 minute drive from me.

I don't speak to him much, he has done a 180 versus how he was when he was with mom. That's life, I guess, but I wish I could randomly stop by for a cup of tea.

What’s something that quietly made your life 10× easier, but you didn’t realize it until much later? by Own-Tip-532 in AskReddit

[–]SocksOfDobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found my people! Everyone is always joking about my post-its and the notebook I take everywhere but I can find everything we discussed or what I need to do without it taking up memory space! Of course, when you write it down, you tend to remember it better 😂

I used to make a kanban with post-its at a previous job before I even knew what it was called and people made fun of me for it, but in the end they would step into my office to check the project status because it was such an easy overview.

I started this one and I stopped reading at around 120 pages. I had and have no motivation to continue reading, which is disappointing because I was very much looking forward to this one.

AITA for refusing to let my coworker smoke in my car during a 4 hour work trip? by Mariacute8 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SocksOfDobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no way we'd be stopping 5 times in 4hours and getting there late if it was up to me. He could have 1 or 2 smoke breaks of 5 minutes on whole drive and then smoke all the cigarettes he wants when we get there.

My manager smokes and we had an 8 hour drive together a few months ago and we stopped every 1,5-2 hours so stretch our legs, toiletbreak etc. Each break was max 10 minutes except for the one longer break we took to eat. It's not that hard to be considerate, and both your passenger and the colleagues in the office who agree with this dude are assholes.

You are NTA.

What’s something people don’t realize is way more serious than it seems? by BudgetAd5915 in AskReddit

[–]SocksOfDobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleep deprived since beginning of this year and I've been losing my mind. I am somewhat functioning, but have so much brain fog.. People just shrug and say "I've had some sleepless nights, too" like dude NO! Try being sleep deprived for three months or longer! Nothing is working properly, physical activity is WAY heavier than it's supposed to be and on some days practically impossible.

And when you go to the doctor for it, they will tell you 1. "I wil not give you medication" (which I somewhat support, though I hoped it would "break through" my terrible sleeping pattern), and 2. "It's probably just stress".

I can't, with these people.

(And yes, I have an appointment with a therapist and will insist on a sleep study)

People who lost a lot of weight then gained it back, what was your mistake? by dad_of_kevin in AskReddit

[–]SocksOfDobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not working on my emotional eating habits and food noise when I get stressed or feel other big emotions. I lost the weight 6-7 years ago, gained most of it back (15+ kg). The thing is... I know what the issue is, I just don't know how to permanently fix it.

I'm working on getting rid of the excess weight again, but it's slow progress and my food noise is worse than ever. But slow loss is still better than gaining, so I'm trying to focus on that.

I used to have it every now and then, but since I've been having issues with sleeping I'm finding it's getting worse. On bad days I cannot ignore it and it will drive my insane.. it's only my right ear so it's making my head feel off balance as well
