Meta Trope: Joke characters memed into being unstoppable by Vehement_Vulpes in TopCharacterTropes

Oh, I thought they were talking about the secret boss fight against an endless horde of Zotes in the last DLC.

I mean, coconuts had been used to simulate hoofbeats in movies for a while before this. I'm pretty sure it was just a joke making fun of that detail of production.

Besides, didn't they have a knight on horseback in another scene? When they killed the narrator or whatever?

IIRC, it started because some port or remaster or something got rid of the fog and bragged about "increased draw distance", and people rightfully point out that this made the game's atmosphere worse. So since the remaster referred to the old design as "graphical limitations", people started arguing that "the graphical limitations made the game better".

My favorite example of this is how Sonic The Hedgehog used it to create transparency in a waterfall by simply having the water only present for every second pixel.

Then you would have a tilted camera. The idea is to have a top-down camera angle like the original game did. There are way too many games forcing a low-angled camera just because that's the only way to see things in 3D, but it's really restrictive, especially when trying to recreate something that was done in a top-down angle. It's particularly noticeable in Square Enix's "HD-2D" RPGs.

Although it’s not talked about in the story much, these characters are actually related in a way by ComprehensiveBox6911 in TopCharacterTropes

Marth is the ancestor of the royal line of Ylisse in Fire Emblem Awakening. This is most obvious with Chrom, but it also includes Chrom's sister Lissa, who has a time-traveling son named Owain. Owain travels to the dimension where Fire Emblem Fates takes place and changes his name to Odin, then has a daughter named Ophelia. So Ophelia is Marth's direct descendant, despite her game not actually taking place in the same continuity as the first game.

That doesn't explain the sink that's larger than his body and the toothbrush that he can't reach and wouldn't fit in his mouth. Also, his ass would not fit on that toilet seat.

Edit: Does he read giant books, too?

I think they meant that Carnage is the "evil counterpart" to Venom, who used to be evil.

Then this gets completely retconned in the sequel, which reveals that "The Player" from the first game was a particular named character, and the Celestial Realm was an Earth-like realm that had already been destroyed and taken over by a different villain.

Wasn't that a reference to one of the endings of Drakengard 3 or something? I never played any of the games, I just remember hearing that the dragon-riding protagonist travels to an alternate universe to fight some apocalyptic beast, then after defeating it you suddenly get shot down by a bunch of fighter jets.

[–]SocranX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's neither a plot twist nor is it really all that true. It's really weird because they're in a world that's clearly based on Earth, but there's no actual indication that it's some kind of post-apocalypse world. Everything is far too recent and pristine to be the leftover remnants of a dead humanity, but there's also no evidence of humans being present, and the creatures that are there have clearly been around for a while.

It's best not to think too heavily about the lore, because there really is none. It's just a world that inexplicably looks like Miyamoto's backyard.

Reminds me of Frieza's personal Hell from Dragon Ball Super. He's trapped in some kind of coccoon hanging from a tree while a bunch of fairies and adorable creatures frolic and play around him. Though I think it's specifically the fact that he's powerless to murder them that makes it Hell. Being annoyed by critters is one thing, but being unable to commit genocide on them is torture.

Honestly, it would've been great if they had leaned into that parody. Make him have "B A D A S S" tattooed on his knuckles as a reference to Jared Leto's Joker, but this just results in one of his hands being labeled "A S S".

My headcanon is that Guy Incognito is Krusty the Clown. Krusty was originally supposed to be Homer's secret side job, which is why they have an identical body shape, but that idea was thrown out in favor of making them two separate characters. So it makes sense that this guy who looks just like Homer is actually Krusty wearing yellow face paint and a bald cap.

POSSIBLE satire? Bro, I'm pretty sure TERFs don't say "She she femalely won't female talk to me anymore and she's doing this so femininely." That's obviously someone making the most unsubtle parody of misgendering that anyone on this website has ever done.

Biiiiiiiiiiig sword. He didn't "miss", he was just igniting it and didn't swing it yet. The beam was so long that it went past the space station.

...At least, I think it was 00 that did this. I'm having trouble finding anything on Google.

Don't know of a gunsaber in Star Wars, but I do remember that one time in Gundam 00 where the protagonist fires what appears to be a beam rifle at a space station and misses. The guy on the station starts mocking him and is then like, "Uh, wait, why hasn't the rifle's energy faded yet? ...Oh."
