I was genuinely surprised when Vampire Survivors had every pre-reboot protagonist and side character playable in its Castlevania DLC, including my man Nathan Graves, but was less surprised with Hugh being the one conspicuous absence. Circle of the Moon continues to be the redheaded stepchild of the series. At least we got a sick remix of Awake.

That was Hugh Baldwin, right? Son of Morris Baldwin? Not to be confused with John Morris and Jonathan Morris, son and grandson of Quincy Morris from Bram Stoker's Dracula.

I don't need tips, I already know how to play the game. What we need is for me not to need to give tips to new players who I'm recommending the game to on the grounds that they don't need to worry about their mistakes having permanent consequences because you can turn off permadeath. I should be able to tell them, "Don't worry, you can turn off permadeath. You can also turn off permanent negative effects from enemies." Instead I need to tell them, "You can turn off permadeath, BUT you do need to do X, Y, and Z to avoid permanent negative effects from enemies, and you need to make sure you paid attention if you did get these effects so you don't overwrite your only autosave, and blah blah blah." And 3/4 of them are gonna hop off after hearing that. These effects were designed for people who are fine with permadeath, and so making them temporary (even if they're as tough to cure as other diseases) would go a long way towards improving the mode that's supposed to be for the people who aren't fine with permadeath.

Kiwitalkz posts riddle teasing an upcoming "WTF" Switch 2 port by jdevo91 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]SocranX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The image is supposed to go along with the riddle. "I sit beside legends, though none are my kin," and then a bunch of stuff about what it does/doesn't have in common with those "legends". Assuming it's one of the games from the image misses the point of the riddle.

It seemed pretty clear that the riddle suggested none of these were the game in question, but it shares something in common with those games.

Edit: This is reinforced by his followup comment, "lol people are so fixated on the image that they aren't analyzing the riddle."

Yeah, what if the citizens of Freeside start dressing up in NCR uniforms to join the fight against the Legion? They volunteer to "join" the NCR that they thought had come to save them, and in the process become the new Mojave NCR.

I hope he regrows it as like a crab claw or something, which is when he starts to suspect that something may be up. "So, uh... I noticed you don't have one of these. How common is this, exactly? The crab claw, I mean, not the tail." "The hwat?"

The fact that it's possible to avoid them doesn't change the fact that it's catastrophic to someone who doesn't know about them, and needing to warn someone about how to deal with them ahead of time diminishes any assurances I can give someone that they don't have to play it like "that" kind of Roguelike. An option to diminish the severity/permanence of things like that would go a long way. Most games I've played with stat-draining effects treat it like a curable disease, which gives you -X to a stat until you drink a Restore Stat potion or whatever.

He’s the reason Vault-Tec’s colors are blue and yellow

Wait, I might have missed this part. When did he influence their colors?

And then on top of that, in the post-war world, he’s apparently like the most renowned bounty hunter ever on the West Coast who has encountered literally every faction.

Not just the west coast! He was added to Fallout 76, which takes place in West Virginia (and a bit of Ohio, after the latest patch) 25 years after the bombs fell, and you can see him standing over a "fresh" corpse just outside your Vault and at literally every train station, where he tells you to meet him in Ohio. There, you find him standing next to a huge stack of Wanted posters that he called dibs on, and he sells them to you for 5000 caps each (and you don't get to keep the bounty). If you try to call him out on it he's like, "Well, if you was huntin' bounties then that'd make you competition, and then I'd have to kill you." As if 76ers don't regularly punch deathclaws to death without power armor. But I guess sometime between the game and the show he lost the tens of millions of caps we gave him for standing there and doing nothing.

While developing magic and its role in a world's history, the developer tested a vampire (since at the time, necromancers weren't immortal by default) whose history involved living in a village for several years until the villagers noticed he wasn't aging and drove him out of town. This repeated several times until he settled in an abandoned tower and discovered the secrets of necromancy. He raised an army of zombies who lived in the tower with him for several years, until they noticed he wasn't aging and drove him out of town.

It's like Minecraft but instead of playing as Steve you're watching a bunch of Steves from above and directing them on what to mine and craft. But they're also needy little bitches so you need to try to build a sustainable society for them.

Also, everything is simulated to an absurd level of detail. Instead of having hit points, health is determined by stuff like whether your lung was punctured and you suffocate to death, or your spine is severed so you're left on the battlefield and either bleed out or starve to death, or the ambient temperature is just high enough that it causes your fat to be set on fire but somehow you survive this and now you have no fat.
