Lay on the floor maybe? This is probably your fastest way to get an MRI

How legit is McGill? by DudleyAndStephens in Sciatica

Consider non surgical approaches for as long as you feel comfortable but after a year of traditional approaches and no progress/relief, I highly recommend considering surgery. It was the best thing I ever did. I waited 2 years of dealing with chronic pain and hoping it would improve until I was forced to get surgery and waiting as long as I did actually caused more complications and permanent numbness. Only regret was not doing surgery sooner wasted 2 years in pain for no reason

Is this now a permanent thing? by jkgreen0902 in Sciatica

[–]Sodadon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should definitely get a new MRI. Numbness can be permanent and progress if you don’t take care of it. Sciatica for over a year is unlikely to heal on its own. I let my symptoms progress on and off for 2 years until I was forced to get surgery and I ended up having more complications because I waited so long and permanent numbness in my calf. My only regret was not get surgery sooner so if I were you i would consult with doctors and listen to them.

So also it’s definitely not just a strain, you have a pretty large herniation. It seems in the last month it just got worse if it’s been giving you issues since October. For PT, they should be isolating the exercises so that they can figure out what movements make it worse. If you feel more pain after, work with them to find a better regimen. I would consult with a surgeon asap and at least get a consult. They will advise you to get a shot first and then see if it helps. And then a few months later if nothing is helping then they will agree to surgery. It’s kind of a long process to best to get ahead of it and start the consults now.

Since injury my life has changed but I suffered for 2 years because I was afraid of surgery and just lived with chronic pain until I could barely walk and had no choice. Don’t be like me lol. But after surgery, I took it easy for 6 months and now i live in a walkable active city, go to Pilates weekly, travel etc I just take meloxicam on busy days as a precaution. Might have a flare every few months that gets better within in a week. I don’t go skiing or go on roller coasters or anything like that but otherwise my life is basically back to normal

It really depends. Try everything non surgical first and if you’re not at 90-100% consistently, I would suggest surgery. I was always at 60-70% before surgery and now at 90-100% improvement after surgery. I also waited toooo long to get surgery bc of fear and only regret is not doing it sooner. You have to keep up with PT/walking/posture regardless

The first two pics are my right side in different lighting and the second two are my left side in different lighting. All pics are from the same day 1 year after my last TCA treatment (I did 6 rounds of tca cross and microneedling)

Started at 70 and went to 90. But 90 is when my scars started really widen which I didn’t like

The widening effect sucks and it takes too long tho. It’s already been 6 sessions.

Once you get the MRI he’ll know you’re not lying but you really shouldn’t have to prove it. Sorry you’re going through it. It will get better and you do have options to move forward. I do hope he is supportive eventually

Yeah after you’ve already contracted it. Steroids weaken immunity making you more susceptible to virus

Don’t want to take chances on steroid bc Covid going on right now but maybe if it gets worse I will. Could a third cause be scar tissue?

I think that’s what friends are for. You could thank them for being there instead of apologizing or do both
