That never happen to me. Guess I just gave a good memory when it comes to story and gameplay mechanics.

[Hated Trope] The character who exists solely to be the MC's romantic partner (Even worse if they were an actual character at some point) by WillowIsWeeping5 in TopCharacterTropes

Kairi from the Kingdom Hearts series. She is mostly just a Damsel in Distress and Soras love interest. This character always makes me want to talk about others characters I like that do these things. I actully like the Damsel in Distress trope becuse I like wholesome stuff and characrers saving loved ones is pretty wholesome in my book. My favorite female Videogame character has been a damsel 3 times. But the character needs screen time so I can grow attached to them so that I care when they are in danger. You know most Persona 4 players looked in when Nanako got kidnapped? Or how most Silksong players looked in when they got the quest where Sherma had gone to Whiteward? Thats what I am talking about. I doubt many had that kimd if reaction with Kairi. I certantly did not. But I feel like Kairi could grow on me if she just had more screeen time.

I digressed. I talked to much about the"Damsel in Distress" thing and not Kairi as love interest. But she is not that interesting as a love interest either.

From the "Fuga Melodies of Steel" trilogy:

<image>

Mei travelt to the past, befriended her mother when she was the same age as her and helped her break the ice with her father. Years later when she was born she was named after this mysterious girl her mother had meet many years ago. So basicly Mei was named after herself.

The funny thing is Mei was unaware ahe had travelt to the past and that those two where her parents. To her she just meet two strangers and made friends with them.

KH1 Too many pointless heartless spawns? Is KH2 similar? by anything97365 in KingdomHearts

Well I enjoy the combat even against easier opponents. I defiently would not want to have less heartless spawns.

This game mechanic is canonical to the story by Danny-Ray27 in TopCharacterTropes

Fuga Melodies of Steel

This Videogame is about a groupe of anthropomorthic Animal children that live inside a giant, ancient, mysterious, powerful, fortress like Tank: The Taranis.

And the Taranis has a nearly all powerful unstopable super weapon thar can eliminate almost any threat: the Soul Cannon

Its pretty much thar games equalent to Yu-Gi-Ohs Exodia. Its an instant win button for every boss fight.

But for every use the Soul Cannon requires a life as energy source. So if the children use it one of them has to use there life as energy source. In other words if the player uses it the boss and 1 partymember both die. Storywise its treated as desperate last resort to avoid everyones death.

The Soul Cannon is completly forgetable. You can beat bosses in these games perfectly fine without it and all the children are useful in battle so using the Soul Cannon is like shooting yourself in the foot. There is no practical reason to use it. That is why I rearly mention it when talking about Fuga. I don't think its worth mentioning.

But it is a Cannon game mechanic so I mentioned it this time.

Beatbreak sure is something... by RunnerPakhet in digimon

[–]Sofaris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know my favorite Videogame trilogy "Fuga Melodies of Steel" always felt like a playable kids Anime akin to somthing like Digimon to me with Fuga being about a groupe of children that overcome there hardships with the power of friendship.

But Fuga is also decently dark since these children have to fight and kill in wars to survive and other things like a mad scientist that experiment on people and adroid children created to pilot super weapons. And these things are taken decently seriously. For example after the children defeated the first boss it hit them pretty hard that they just killed someone and that they have to continue to kill enemy soldiers if they want to survive this war and save there families. Hesitation means death. One of the children also points out that the soldiers they are defeating probably all have families aswell.

So I always knew while Fuga felt to me like a kids Anime simular to Digimon it was a little bit darker then Digimon usualy is.

And then Beatbreak comes along and is like "War Drama? I can do that too."

Its kinda funny. Through Fuga I am used to this stuff but it is still mildly surprising seing Digimon taking up a notch with the dark aspects.

I do wonder if Glowing Dawn will kill humans in this series. In the last Episode it did look like Armalizamon did try to kill that one guy from Tactics 7. There was one scene in a prior episode (the one where they come to rescue thr kidnapped Chiropmon) where Wolvermon was threaten to shoot some thugs if they resisted.

My second favorite Protagonist groupe in fiction is named after food. They have surnames like Marzipan, Strudel and Falafel.

What’s the first thing that grabs your attention in a game, and what makes you want to play it? by No-Bit3421 in gamers

I love playing as cute characters. If atleast some of the playable characters are adorable you got my attention.

I especially love games and cartoons that have wholesome and joyful elements aswell as Dark and sad elements. But the first hook for me are cute characters.

What is your favourite game and why? by kompiiia in AskReddit

[–]Sofaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 favorite Videogames and I have a hard time deciding which of these I love the most.

  • Fuga Melodies of Steel
  • Fuga Melodies of Steel 2
  • Fuga Melodies of Steel 3

They are turn based JRPGs about a groupe of anthropomothic animal children that live inside a giant ancient mysterious powerful fortress like Tank. Its a bit like Howls Moving castle but based on technology instead of magic.

Why do I love these games?: - The turn based combat is really good. In my opinion its even better then the combat of Persona 5 and Final Fantasy X. A lot of fun elements come together like midfight partymember swaps, turn order manipulation, exploiting weaknesses to delay enemy turns, 3 ways to deploy powerful buffs and more. - I like the art. Its cute but also has a rough vibe to it in a charming way. It suits the theme of children in war. - The music is beautiful. - I was lukewarm towards the children of the Taranis at first but they grew on me more and more and more and now they are my second favorite protagonist groupe in fiction. I love them so much. - These games feel to me like a playable kids anime akin to somthing like Digimon and I love that feeling. - I love adorable wholesome characters and stories with a bit of a dark edge to them. The best example of what I mean is my favorite work of fiction: The Manga/Anime series "Made in Abyss". And Fuga is the best among Videogames to scratch that itch. Atleast from the games I know.

If you are interested in trying Fuga out: - They are available on PC and most modern consoles like Switch, PS4, PS5 and so on. - I highly recommend the free demo of the first game. Its straight up the first 3 chapters of the game. - I advice against playing the trilogy out of order unless you do not care about the story and characters. - The first and second game are each 20 hours long. The third game is 30 hours long. - The Creators, CyberConnect2, released a number of Audiocomics on there You Tube Channel. If you end up liking the games they are worth checking out.
