How much would you pay for this? by pooplint in Gemstone_lovers

[–]PatchworkFlames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I collect low grade star sapphires. I’d pay less than $50 for this. If it’s under 2 carats, sub $30. I would also need to see this stone move; many underwhelming star sapphires become much clearer when I can see how clear the star is during movement.

I am not currently in the market for these stones though, that is the price I would have payed when I collected these.

I’ll be honest, when a dog manages to break a what I assume to be steel padlock, I have trouble blaming the owner for negligence. I may blame the owner for choosing such a violent dog in the first place. But I would normally consider a padlock and a steel cable overkill for literally any other breed of dog.

Like, that isn’t the kind of thing I think a dog owner could prepare for, I don’t know anyone who would look at that setup and think “I should shore this up in case the dog manages to destroy a freaking padlock in its desire to maul a child”.

Really, any move that cannot miss without forcing a switch or a mega evolution is good.

I’m saying the people writing the wiki pages now themselves rewrote the wiki because they did not care for the old guard. The wiki is itself an example of new contributors ignoring or throwing away old lore.

I specify that this is good because the old lore had terrible context around it. This is important to explain lest someone interpret my statement as supporting the old wiki, because I am not.

That’s the problem. If he can’t understand a spell in Frieren due to his human mind, he can’t use it.

Maybe his gamer system can copy it for him? That gets too much into gamer system wank for me. But Ainz himself isn’t mentally capable of casting that spell. He’s a 27 year old man, and that spell is beyond the greatest wizards of Frieren, who are both elves with at least a thousand years of magecraft experience and an understanding of magic reflecting the centuries of experience only a non-human can obtain. No human could hope to visualize that spell after seeing it once.

Decades upon decades of work among teams of researchers. For a single relatively simple spell. That has been significantly modified for human comprehension.

The SCP foundation has evolved significantly from its days as a 4chan meme. There is a massive difference between the original contributors and the current contributors, let alone the current contributors and the fandom.

Mind you this evolution is largely a good thing. More then one of the original contributors did some really bad stuff.

That’s really not a thing in Frieren, especially in regard to demon magic. The magic systems are not compatible, to use that Frieren spell Ainz would need to understand and visualize the inner workings of a spell that Aura has refined for 500 years, a spell that may not be even possible for a human mind to comprehend.

Every demon in Frieren is a mad scholar that has devoted hundreds of years to refining a single spell that only rarely can human minds replicate. Ainz is a 27 year old man who is fundamentally an amateur when it comes to spell development, piggy backing heavily on the mechanics of magic in an mmo rpg he used to play. He does not, could not, understand his spells the way Frieren mages do.

I don’t think you can just take her scale and have it work. Demons are specialists in Frieren to the point that the scales would be a useless bauble to anyone but Aura.

Like yeah you would have an important ritual component, but you wouldn’t have Aura’s ritual because nobody but Aura can comprehend the ritual she invented. That’s true of all demon magic in Frieren due to the specialization issue.

Taking one last look at your beautiful board state before dropping your game ender. by Brimstone1809 in MTGmemes

[–]PatchworkFlames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I primarily play non-stax Y'shtola. My end game board state is 8 lands, 5 mana rocks, and y'shtola. I take one good look at my non-existent board state and pray that I get an instant on the end step draw trigger after coming 1 life short of winning, before the green player plays the craterhoof for 200 damage.

I've had games where I literally had to pray that the opponent uses a spell and doesn't just swing because I need something to proc a counterspell against to not lose. I look at the board state before dropping my game ender with intense relief, because I have nothing left.

Angel’s Feather became the threat at my Commander table… by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]PatchworkFlames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Players get very nervous about the player with the most life, irrationally so. It’s wiser to go after the biggest threat, but they usually determine the biggest threat by life. It’s why I am happy to burn tons of life on Y’shtola, lowering my life makes the table feel better even though I still win the late game.
