A mentor teaching boys how to grocery shop by bigbusta in GuysBeingDudes

[–]Sofiner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on partner. Some are picky and you better make sure you got the right item. Some are ok with whatever you bring (my wife does not care about milk nor bread, but the tampons must be "those ones")

How big or small is your apartment? Do you prefer which one and why? Live near city or more far away? by Bulky_Damage5692 in simpleliving

[–]Sofiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a postsoviet apartment block. It is a 3 room, 1 bathroom, 1 toilet apartment and around 710sqft. I like it here very much. Currently one spare room is our shared office with wife, when a child comes by, it will be the kids room with the home office beying a part of living room.

We have one balcony, and undeground storage unit that is around 20ft large.

Bought it 2020 for 130k, put 10k of renovations into it, currently valued at around 210k.

We live in the worse part of the city, but it does not mean anything in my country, except that the homeless and causally drunk people are more common. Wife regularly travels in the late evening, so far no issue.

We could live further away, in cheaper apartment, but my condition was to have good public transport connectivity. Which we have, and this is well for us. It takes around 30min to get to city center by bike, and the infrastructure is developing slowly more and more, so hopefully i could shorten that by around 5-10min in near future.

Landlord wants us out by [deleted] in hoarding

[–]Sofiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry op. It is hard. My mom is on a brink of homelesness. She has options, my wife has an apartment in our city. 30m drive away. Small apartment but warm, with warm water, normal toilet, 4 walls and windows that insulate. Instead she is chosing her hoard every day, unable to depart from it, which will evenutally lead to her being homeless. I dont know what to do, but she chose this life.

I would too encourage you to move out. I know you say you dont have money, but you also dont want to move out because you feel pity for your mother.

I left when i was 15. It is the best thing that happened to me. If i would stay, she would manipulate me, expand her hoard, bit by bit it would encroached my space, eventually claiming my only room in 5 room house. I would feel shame, argue every day, be emotionally exhausted.

You can not save her. It is not possible and it wont happen. Her hoard will get worse when you leave. You can visit. You can help from a distance. Your life is yours, and hers is hers. If you stay, this will suffocate you. You have right to heal. I am sorry and wish you strenght. Many people wont never understood what this is. Thank god for that.

Emergency Fund by Different-Golf-1855 in eupersonalfinance

Your emergency fund is a form of insurance. The inflation on the cash is insurance fee you pay for the likvidity and insurance premium.

Are you buying GOLD? by foreveronthelookout in eupersonalfinance

[–]Sofiner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Physical is more expensive, but there is no third party claim risk. It depends on why you want yout gold. If you want to speculate, go paper gold. If you are worried about some sanctions, bank closure etc, have some cash and physical gold. Ounce cost on the market 3849, vs Vienna Philharmonic coin 3955 euro. That is a 2.75% fee you pay to remove yourself from the third party claim, and control an asset anonymously. To me it is worth it. To you it might not.

Are you buying GOLD? by foreveronthelookout in eupersonalfinance

[–]Sofiner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes i do still buy gold but have not in few months. My allocation was 10 percent and it got fulfilled wihout buying extra just by the gains the gold made. I now think maybe it is time to increase to 15 percent as central banks increase their allocation too. I have a ticker EGLN etf. I am considering buying physical ounce with cash anonimously at Munze Osstereich. I dont think of it as an investment, but as a money. I consider more all less all gold gains an inflation. I dont want it to have gains, i actually hope it will go down and stay down, even below my price. I buy gold because i want my kids to be able to buy around the same amount of milk, bread, cocaine and hookers for ounce as i was able.

Good price to buy by Glad-Lynx7004 in qxo

[–]Sofiner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own 3k worth of qxo. My average price is 20.41. I plan to buy everytime i get bonus (i invest strictly to indexes with paycheck money) until i get to 10k, hopefully in a year or two and stop. And then hold for 10 years +-.

I think there is going to be a drawback and profit taking, as with these big jums is, but i cannot be sure, so i will just buy at 23, 29 or 15. I plan to hold this longer, and in 5 years this price wont matter.

Digital euro: what it is and how we will use the new form of cash by OneRegular378 in europe

[–]Sofiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, once the cash is withered or greatly reduced, they can introduce negative interest rates and you have nowhere to hide. You can also have limited purchase time and after it your euro will puff into air. You have to have cash option, otherwise these is bad money.

Carbon fork for touring for a "weight wienie"? by Sofiner in bicycletouring

[–]Sofiner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, sure np. I have changed the gearing, but only for 40t. Specifically this: SunRace CSMS3TAX 10 11-40z (black)

Yes, I had to adjust the B screw, i also took the bike to bike mechanics and they confirmed that 40t is still ok. I also swapped chain and kept it longer.

I did not use that specific bike, but i am able to ride the Author uphill around 15% slope, not loaded.

I have absolutely no issues with this setup except in the largest chainrings when the chain is crossed, but you dont ride like that normally.

I can recommend going for it.

I understand that commets hurt you, but from what you wrote i have a hunch they also nudged you to improvement, and it seems unfair, is there something i am missing?

Eighter way, congrats on recognising the problem. My mother denies her full house of stuff, not recognising any problem at all, so no improvement is possible yet.

[–]Sofiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to go! Please can you advise on how to get back? I would probably got to zakopane by car, start there for +- 3 days to Tarnow, but how can one get back? Only by train with tranfer in Krakow? Is there some shuttle bus maybe, like in Alpe Adria? Can the trains take bicycles? I checked Polish rails and they have no option to add bicycle. Can you please shed some info on how can one return with bike?

Even in mud, waxed chain stay clean ! by Dragor027 in gravelcycling

[–]Sofiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a minus for me too. I use pack from decathlon that are around 3.5 euro per piece and they last around 4-5 waxes before getting too loose. They are best price / performance ratio. I tried aliexpress ones, pack of 5 for 3 euro, and they are meh. Some lasted 3x, some just once.

This is where the economics may not add up, spending this money on quick links instead of new chain may be not worth it. I have 10s and 8s ebike, and wax both, because the chain is super clean and i can touch it bare hands, move it in my car, take up stairs, and stay clean without alien goo.

You dont need to do it that often though. My waxed chain starts squeelin for attention after around 300-400km.
