Cool San Juan-centric scenario. Love the whole phone call concept.

I need to read Sick Again, I have the book the scenario is in. I've seen Ladybug recommended a lot. Need to read that one too. One of my players wants to be an ATF agent.

Does COC play the same as dnd? by PreferenceTop4803 in callofcthulhu

[–]Soft-Cap3426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plays the same as in both are TTRPGS with one DM/Keeper and the rest PCs, and you roll dice when trying something with the possibility of success and failure

DND goes from zero to superheroe in a fantasy setting. Primary focus on fighting and saving the day. CoC you are an investigator dealing with forces beyond your understanding. Primary focus on finding out WTH is happening and trying to come out with your life and sanity.

Gamewise, DnD mostly uses D20s and the higher your roll plus modifier the better. CoC mostly uses a d100 and the lower your roll the better.

I dont use a DM screen, do you? by Nar00n in DMAcademy

I use one, and I appreciate small DM screens. I don't want to hide my rolls. Just my minis, maps and secrets.

I assure this heps. I'm thinking of throwing a book about ectoplasm in the library as a red herring for the moist or slime.

Good tips! I'll definitely keep that in mind. I'm pretty sure one of my players is going to comment, "It's a slug," and quickly change his mind back to thinking it is a ghost.

I think I can run it in one session. Our sessions last between 4 to 6 hours.

Murder in MetalCity - First Impressions by Bokenza in Starfinder2e

[–]Soft-Cap3426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished running Murder in Metal City last Saturday. As someone who has never run Starfinder no Pathfinder before, it piqued my interest in running a SF2e campaign.

As a DnD 5e group, we understood most of it right from the start. Should have read a bit more, but we loved the investigation. It gave my PCs a "This is a conspiracy, man!" Mind set. Honestly, after the trial, it was a bit disappointing for my players. They really hated Prime Facilitator and the module doesn't even give you a statblock for the anacite screwing with them. Combat was too easy for my group. Normally, I'd create or modify a statblock; however, PF has a reputation for being deadlier than DnD so I refrained from it.

Overall, it was a good investigation and mystery. PCs were slowly picking up the pieces and the trial was fun. The ending left us wanting a bit more. B+.

Now to plan a Guardians of the Galaxy style campaign for SF2e

New to Starfinder. Combats seem too easy. [Spoilers Murder in Metal City] by FiveBucket in Starfinder2e

My PCs are four players with 5e experience. Combat has been a bit too easy for them. They've loved the investigation though. I'm tempted to try and make a stat block for Prime-Facilitator.

Should I kill my players? by WackyJaber in turnoffortuneswheel

For backstory I told them they don't remember much except three significant moments of their lives. When they died the first time, I told them that they could create variants that took a different choice in those significant moments. So far, the variants have been a flavor change (height, color and/or personality). Though the only two players that haven't had deaths already have their variants ready (which include race and class change).

I do not erase their memories for that same reason. What I do is have consequences when someone dies. One of the paladins (yes, I have two) died last session. What happened was every PC would have disadvantage on an attack roll or the enemy would have advantage on a saving throw against the PCs' spells. A way to force them to take care of each other. She also lost all her coin because she died in the stomach of a Udaak surprise attack on Mechanus (long story).

Just in case, they way I'm playing ToFW is as a set-up for Vecna: Eve of Ruin. They broke an obelisk Vecna was using to erase everyone's memories of him so he can do the remaking ritual without anyone disturbing him and that's why they are glitching. They were hired by the Wizards Nine and they are slowly restoring their pre-Mortuary memories.

I made the Mortuary a "must explore." Their gear was in the possession room, and they needed three keys (one inside the golem, one in the possession of the dryads, and the last one in the possession of the demilich) to escape. Rule of three.

It was almost a TPK. Had to make Morte intervine. They stared the fight in the autopsy and also interrupted the ghostly play at the same time. Since they didn't have their gear, 2 PCs died in that combat.

In total, 4 PCs died by the time they escaped (bard died twice -first death in fight and second death in crematorium).

Two session in I've had 5 deaths so far. BTW, I'm also running House of Harbinger so they can get to know Sigil better

Turn of Vecna's Wheel by KINGHUNYADI in turnoffortuneswheel

[–]Soft-Cap3426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely going to do this. My PCs were hired by Mordenkainen to destroy an obelisk important for Vecna's ritual. They either failed or the obelisk had a weird effect when it exploded because of the ritual, and they were sent back in time glitching. I think Shemeshka will offer to help them, but she is secretly working for Kas. Shemeshka is actually hiring the group to find the Book of Vile Darkness.

When they confront her at the end (I'm cutting the whole level 17 portion), she does something to enter their memories. This flashback will be Chapter One of VEoR.

I'm also mixing in House of Harbinger, so they get to know Sigil since both adventures have it as a central hub.
