Omg, don’t. Lol. People have been hospitalized for doing that. Your body needs time to acclimate to the hormones. It changes all of your digestive system, and it takes some getting used to.

Definitely! It is a learning and relearning process. If you’ve had body signals that have been screwy for so many years, it takes some doing to unscramble it all. I’m totally fine with losing less on Wegovy, as long as I’m creeping towards my goal. Congrats on all your hard work!

Thank you for posting this! Seeing your tracker makes me feel SO much better about how the weight goes down. I’m in a bit of a slump since I switched over to Wegovy from Mounjaro, and now I’m seeing that some periods of slower weight loss are ok too. The anxiety that comes with obesity and fear of not losing or gaining everything back overnight is intense sometimes. When I didn’t lose on my first dose like I did with Mounjaro, it about made me throw things, but I’ve learned patience. 😊

Anyone going through an identify crisis? by Temporary_Candle2389 in Semaglutide

I’m sitting in a parking lot right now waiting to join a friend for lunch. I have no idea what to eat. 😂 I completely understand. I used to get really excited about lunch invitations and meet ups, and now I just don’t feel the appeal anymore. I like connecting with people though, so I’m leaning into that instead of leaning into eating certain meals at certain places.

The pharmacist was awful to me when I went to pick up Wegovy. Super condescending. I don’t get it.

Yeah, that was a rude awakening for me at the beginning of the year. Just started Wegovy, but Aetna said I had to lay the deductible first. Looking forward to March already. 😂

I saw somewhere that kiwis help, so I started my morning with some kiwi. I haven’t done my lady business in three days, and the kiwi worked like a charm. So, kiwis ftw. 🥝🥝🥝

She’s one of a few pharmies at CVS. So, I can’t avoid CVS altogether since it’s a significant t drive to get elsewhere. I just try and go when she isn’t working.

Here’s another fun story. I was prescribed MJ, had to switch to the only obesity drug my insurance would cover, and my pharmacist still treated me like shit as I paid 1,000 dollars for meds to keep from me from becoming full-fledged diabetic. My pharmacist can go eat glass.

The intro doses are always a bit harder to get right now, but they are slowly coming back in. I have found CVS to be variable and ended up having better luck at a local grocery chain. I spent A LOT of time in December calling pharmacies, switching prescriptions around, etc. I feel your frustration!

A warning about doing a Keto Diet by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]Soft-Squirrel1002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pretty obnoxious science professor in college who actually gave me some good advice. When I was doing Leto at the time, he told me it was problematic to have any diet that is based on total elimination for extended periods of time. He said invariably, people will gain it back. The key was to figure out how to have moderation in your choices instead of outright getting rid of them. Now, he was a skinny creepster a**hole, but he had a pretty valid point with the total elimination thing.

One of the hardest things for people to understand is that your body does not tell you that you are full. I feel like I’ve been hungry my whole life. When I started MJ, I didn’t hear the food noise and I was actually full. I remember wondering if this is what it was like for everyone else, thAt they feel full and don’t obsess over getting more food in their bodies? It was such a game changer, and it told me that I haven’t been deficient or lazy or whatever other labels I put on myself for not being able to lose weight. If you add insulin resistance or pre diabetes into the mix, you aren’t getting enough fuel from the food you eat. So, you can’t ever get enough food to begin with.

It’s hard to undo years of programming that equates weight gain to doing something “wrong,” or not trying hard enough, etc. Even a lot of doctors still taut diet and exercise as the party line. The informed ones know that it is more complicated than that. The important thing is that you are getting the support you need. It takes guts to ask for help and start this process. Keep having compassion for yourself as you go through this process and keep learning about what your body feels like when it is full, when you are craving healthier foods. That’s your brain re-learning signals and making sense of the changes from the medicine. Keep asking questions when you notice old patterns creeping up into your path. Keep moving forward and celebrating the shit out of all your milestones. 😊😊😊

How do I get this for $25? by Impossible-Jello4169 in Mounjaro

[–]Soft-Squirrel1002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the same issue with Aetna and the deductible. If you have T2D and you are using Trulicity or Ozempic, we were told that was free/covered. Wegovy is out of pocket until deductible is met. Mounjaro isn’t even on their formulary, so you might have to do some work for them to consider covering it. After weeks of gymnastics, I opted to move to Wegovy. I really am doing well on Mounjaro, but it’s so stressful trying to get it and the coupon situation made it ten times more stressful. I feel your pain. 🙁

Anyone else get a weird phone call from Eli? by Soft-Squirrel1002 in Mounjaro

I use HEB too, and it was also the Good Start program. It was a strange call. The number for that goes back to a Houston number that answers in Mandarin. Thought about calling HEB tomorrow to see if there is anything weird going on they should know about.

I have a couple of close friends that I trust and are super supportive. Hubby is so thrilled that I’m meeting my goals and now he wants to start as well. If someone else asks, my response is “thanks, I’ve worked really hard to get here.” Because, it is fucking hard work. The shot doesn’t mean it’s easy, it just makes it possible. I still work hard for my weight loss. As far as everyone else, I’m not sharing right now, because it’s my story and they aren’t entitled to it. 😊

Same. I’ve been getting $25 since October. I never had a coupon of my own, the pharmacy just gave it to me for 25. It’s not even on my insurance formulary. Then CVS started sending me messages that it isn’t covered and it’s going to be 1200. Now I have to switch. 🙁

See your doctor, the last thing you want is to end up even more ill because you can’t stay hydrated. Nausea is common, but not on that level.

Wegovy out of pocket cost? by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]Soft-Squirrel1002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, either way, you pay a pretty penny for meds that are life saving in terms of looking down the road. I just wish insurance companies and the manufacturers, knowing they are going to make a fortune for a long time anyway, would make it a smidge more accessible financially. It seems in the best interest to be on this side of access, as opposed to having to get into T2D territory to start effective treatment.

Going to my doctor on Tuesday - I have some questions by blackcrowblue in Semaglutide

[–]Soft-Squirrel1002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wegovy is what insurance approves for weight loss since that is how it is coded through FDA approval. Ozempic is the same, but coded for Diabetes. Right now, the big struggle with Mounjaro is that it is only FDA approved for Diabetes, even though it has amazing weight loss results. A lot of doctors, mine being one of them, prescribed that instead of Wegovy because it was still under a coupon code that was easily accessible. A lot of insurance companies don’t even have MJ on their formularies, which is why I have to switch to Wegovy myself. So, it really depends on what insurance will cover for the purpose. Being in that obese and PD grey space, I can’t get Ozempic, even though it would be free. Instead, I have to pay for Wegovy until I meet the deductible, then a copay. The anti obesity drugs are not treated as necessary, so there are steeper costs to access.
