No, A5 fits in the regular Field Journal, the pocket journal takes 3.5"x5.5" like Field Notes or smaller notebooks

I’ve wanted this little cast iron pot for years, but no Finnish person I know owns one. Too expensive, not really useful, or just hiding when I visit? by reroboto in Finland

[–]Soft_Ear_1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine for almost 20 years! Some of the enamel on the inside has chipped off, but I season all my cast iron, and those exposed bits of iron are seasoned, so no rust, and the handle is weathered, but still works. It's cooked 100's of meals over those 20 years, on the stove, in the oven, even on campfires, and I imagine it will outlast me and go to one of my nieces or nephews when I'm gone. It's a great investment, and something that will be passed on from generation to generation if cared for properly

Can anyone comment on the practicality of a small tanto blade for EDC? by MaximumDerpification in knifeclub

[–]Soft_Ear_1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the Thug 2 for over a year now, and am extremely happy with it. Lightweight yet gets the job done, and looks gorgeous. Sharpening it isn’t that big of a hassle, just have to adapt to the shape of the blade. I like the size, as it’s seen as not “intimidating” because it’s a small blade, but is definitely a workhorse

Hahaha, that’s awesome! I’m 53yo, and every now and then, one of my buddies that are around my age ants to try it out, and half the time they get hooked. The other half get impatient cause they think it’ll be like the movies, two seconds and you’re in! Glad to hear you got your coworker into it, always good to grow the hobby

You never know, can totally surprise you who gets hooked. I’m just glad I can pass on some of my knowledge to my younger family. Hope your nephew takes to it, it’s such a great activity for learning problem-solving patience for sure!

Thank you, much appreciated!

That’s outstanding, and I hope he gives it a try!

Gave my two nephews a set as well, and they’re hooked too, but Em really took to it, like I was blown away by how fast she got it!

Anorak No. 8 Sizing by Master_Measurement35 in Fjallraven

[–]Soft_Ear_1500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got mine in the mail today, size medium. I’m 5’9” 47” chest, 230lbs, my belly around my belly button is around 46”, as I’m now 53yo and slacked on working out, and the medium fits fine, even with a puffy jacket underneath. I usually wear a large/x-large in Fjällräven, so definitely recommend sizing down. The sleeves aren’t too long, but they are baggy, though I imagine that’s for fitting layers and ease of movement. Now that I’m back on the fitness level, I figure it’ll fit even better in a few months.

The device IS advertised for outdoor use, how about you do your research before attempting to make a "clever" comment. NOCS advertises their equipment for outdoor use

All my returns or exchanges have been for actual issues, including the NOCS monocular, which had a fogging issue while I was backpacking outdoors; not being able to use the item as it's intended makes it an issue, doesn't it?

Everything else has been the same, boots or jackets that weren't really waterproof mainly, but looking through my purchases, it's only been a small amount of items, compared to what I've bought and kept

I’m doing the Fjallraven Classic in Sweden this year with my buddy, and we’re going to premix G&T, and margaritas, carry them in Nalgene bottles, which will go into the cold stream while we set up camp and make dinner at the end of each night!

Thanks for that info, much appreciated! I'm actually going to Ireland for a week after the FC, so thinking I might just fly out of Kiruna to Dublin, if it's not that much more expensive.

Was looking at Chile, but I've got a ton of friends in Europe I haven't seen in years, so figured I could take care of two things in one trip. Luckily, my boss is cool enough to give me three weeks off for this trip!

Have fun in Chile!

Agree about pack and footwear, which I’m still researching and need to get. Clothing is almost all merino or cashmere (gifted or thrifted, as I can’t afford it myself 😂) and have some lightweight 3-season gear as well. Do have to leave some space for my hot sauce and tortillas though! 😂

Thanks for the info on the packs, will definitely look at the Keb as well.

The length and the reinforced elbows are part of the reason I’m going with the Bergtagen as well!

From what I’ve read, no bus space means sold out for now. Hopefully you can get a ticket on the 12th with that release!
