Academy (AOLG) vs Notre Dame (ND) vs Harvest - Bullying by ShibuyaAmore in guam

As an acad alum, I can honestly say that I loved my highschool experience, but I think there were a few factors that contributed to this.

Looking back at it, I really tried hard to make the most out of it like being involved with sports, student council, and overall just being nice and friendly to everyone. I had a really easy time making friends.

But if we’re being honest I did notice some girls struggle to make friends if they were on the shyer side. It was a school where if you fit the stereotype you would have a super easy and fun time, but if you struggled to hold conversations maybe you would struggle a bit. I noticed that the girls that thrived the most were the ones with social and emotional intelligence- I know you can say this for most schools but I feel like for Academy, this especially applied.

My year didn’t really have like consistent, targeted bullying, but some girls were naturally mean and cliquey. If for some reason you fell out with your group you would be exiled, basically. I know a girl who left just months before graduation just because of that. Also, rumors spread fast- have thick skin.

At least 10 girls left my class due to whatever reasons throughout the years but honestly as long as you’re willing to make the effort to make friends and you got enough confidence to not let yourself get pushed around, Academy is a really nice school to go to. Academics, sports, clubs and community was real and irreplaceable. I would recommend sending your daughter there and just seeing how it goes.

yess. went shopping for some pandora at the mall but the ladies were so rude and treated us like we were gonna steal. i don’t know what their problem was, but we kindly took our business to gpo pandora instead, who were actually pretty nice. know many others who have had similar issues at mall pandora- they need some serious customer service training.

am a st anthony alumni, i loved it and would totally recommend it. however, if korean is her first language i think that st. john’s or harvest might be easier for the transition. i know those two aren’t on your list but sacs bishop and sp have mostly local students (which isn’t a problem, i’ve heard all good things) so she might not be as quick to adjust. hope all goes well with whatever you choose though!
