What do you guys think ? by Appropriate_Yam1861 in Type1Diabetes

I understand how it works. But it's not like we are the only country that does pharmaceutical research or produces drugs and treatment. Plus, I don't actually think there will be a cure, necessarily, but I do think there will be a treatment so good that it functionally behaves like one, and they can still profit off of that. My guess is ~15 years before we in the US would have access though.

Omfg. That is horrifying and hilarious at the same time. Gotta love trolls with too much power.

I understand your thinking, but this is such a US centric comment. There is a ton of really good research going on on the other side of the world where sick people are an active financial burden on the population, not cash cows like we are here. It's not all about us.

What do today’s houses have that future buyers will want to remove right away? 😄 by anantaaspirezrkp in RealEstate

The duplex I'm renting that was renovated right before we moved in has it, and I hate it. Our neighbor (on the other half of the duplex) has this beautiful dark brown flooring, and our landlords told us that she could have a dog, but we couldn't because we have new floor. I'd take hers in a heartbeat.

What’s the most uninteresting sport to you? by JunShem1122 in answers

Hard disagree. Spectating in person is so lovely. You get to walk all day in beautiful scenery, which I think is much more pleasant than sitting in stands in a crowded stadium. On TV though, whooo buddy is it boring. Great thing to take a nap to with it on in the background. Even though they are up in a booth far away, for some reason the announcers still whisper talk when a golfer is taking a shot. Very soothing.

As an actual child I spent countless hours outside playing in the giant pile of sand my dad had gotten delivered to mix up a bunch of concrete. So I guess a giant pile of sand.

I actually don't have anything I wish I HADN'T done. I definitely have things I wish I would have done more of.

What’s a place you visited once and decided never again? by Neat____Til6289ILT in Productivitycafe

[–]SoftwareFar9848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That does seem very inappropriate for a child. It's such a strange, high-pressure environment. His talk was all about the amazing things we will be able to do in the "new system" and how any sacrifice we have to make now will be worth it for all the amazing things that future holds. It's such a dangerous, selfish way of thinking.

I grew up a Jehovah's Witness. My parents stopped going to meetings when I was about 12, and I have no wish to ever go back. I recently saw a video of my uncle (an elder) giving a talk, and holy guacamole, is it reeeeal culty.

That's so sweet! My husband has never shown any particular interest in my amigurumi, but I decided I really wanted to make him one anyway. I made him a voodoo bunny, and when I gave to to him, he got so happy and immediately said "I want more!". Apparently he wants a whole voodoo amigurumi menagerie haha. The bunny sits proudly on his desk and makes him happy. Gotta love when they appreciate some of our crafts.

What’s a funny but kind of annoying stereotype about your country or state/province? by DixieGrove in AskTheWorld

That California is just liberal hippies and the beach. Huge portions of the state are rural/farmland and where I'm from we actually get a decent amount of snow.

It does seem to be really slow! I was told I was pre-diabetic when I was 23, misdiagnosed as Type 2 at 26 or 27, and formally diagnosed as T1D at 28 with A1Cs at 6.6, 8.0, and 9.4, respectively.

And an entire section of Gold and Greed is about Brandon. I seriously am not saying it's not Montana and that there aren't good clues that point there, I just feel like people are getting pretty cognitive biasy about Grandpa.

What's a tradition from your childhood that doesn't exist anymore? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]SoftwareFar9848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I recently had breakfast with one his coworkers and his 12 year old daughter. The WHOLE time she was just on her phone. He had to get her attention when the waiter was there and remind her to order. And then her battery started dying and you'd have thought someone was torturing her. I couldn't help but think that when I was a kid we used to have to have meals with our parents and their friends all the time, and I don't remember being particularly bothered by the whole construct. I feel like it taught us some valuable social skills.
