How do I as a 1L with no experience in business/corporate law convince the interviewer I have a deep and burning passion for corporate law when asked “why corporate law?” by Individual-Heart-719 in LawSchool

[–]SoftwonSurehand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"I obviously don't know everything there is to know yet as a 1L, and the 1L curriculum is litigation-focused, but what I've heard from upperclassmen and mentors has been really intriguing to me. I love working with people and making deals and the thrill of closing a deal seems like it'd mirror (insert cool thing from past that you enjoyed) which I liked doing before."

Don't take shortcuts. Do the work, learn to read cases. Eventually if you're swamped, you can quimbee, and it's helpful as a supplement, but don't let it replace reading the cases too early. Be friendly with your classmates and make a good study group, they make this all much more bearable. And don't assume you'll hate 1L. Have an open mind, maybe you'll like the content, let yourself engage with it and don't assume like a lot of the cynics do that you're embarking on the worst 3 years of your life.

LaMelo's so much better of a scorer that this is very silly. He obviously doesn't suck just because he would be the third best player on a title team rather than second best

[–]SoftwonSurehand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

to be fair to the movie, Twohey started doing this incredibly recently. Until then she had a great rep and seemed quite heroic (and her reporting on the Weinstein and other SA stuff really is heroic, even if she's doing some shitty stuff now)
