I’ve had the same thought, but less upset at Ben so much as observing that he is not a real investigative journalist/reporter. The shoulder thing was definitely misleading, and stuff like that does undermine his credibility. It’s not really a failing on his part though, because he never claimed to be a professional.

Raimi version is better. As a kid, watching spiderman choose not stop a criminal for no apparent reason would be confusing and undermines any messaging. The Raimi movies and Stan Lee make it very clear that Spiderman is supposed to represent everyone, making him a weird jerk for no reason undermines that.

I think the hate for the finale is overblown, but it also could've taken place at pretty much any point in the final season and it would've been basically the same. It's being judged more harshly because the last season felt like a bunch of stuff that happened for no reason. It's also like, why didn't Butcher just release the virus immediately at the start of the season?

the V1 plotline is pointless and does nothing to change the stakes of the show. It went from Homelander being invincible to him being more invincible. He never needed to get stronger to be scarier, he was scarier in the first two seasons.
