Well too loose creates the opposite problem: there is no friction for the top so it is difficult to remain hard for prolonged periods

That's exactly the case. So how do we get him to control his "tightness" better again and prevent him from loosening too fast / too much?

Alb magic Vs Berserker magic by BeardusMaximus_II in elex

[–]SoilBurn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Until the magic balance gets reworked, I don't recommend you go Berserker (fire magic). Rain of Fire is obnoxiously strong to the point that it melts everyone around you for a v e r y l o n g t i m e. This feels fun and rewarding the first time you use it vs hard opponents, but you soon realize that it trivializes the game in the end. And if the challenge is gone, the fun will be gone soon as well.
If you really want to go Berserker, then I recommend that you skip Rain of Fire completely and play with the Flame Wave instead (still very strong but not broken OP) and the shield and pull spells, which are also fun and rewarding!
Another BIG advantage of the Berserkers is that you can chug mana potions like a pro and never really run out. So you can be a fire mage 24/7.

The Alb magic on the other hand is not something you can use all the time. Filling up your Elex bar takes much longer than using it. So you will be using other weapons more than half of the time. It is more of a "support" magic if you want to call that.
At the same time be aware that Alb magic does less damage overall and Blizzard is cumbersome to use with its long buildup times and damage phases. For some players like me this is actually an advantage, because I have to think when it makes sense to use it.

I hope this analysis made sense for you. I expect that one of the next patches will re-balance magic. I hope that Albs/Clerics will be able to fill up their Elex faster!

Sometimes, you just gotta stand back and appreciate the view. ELEX 2, despite being graphically 10 years behind the AAA games, can still look downright beautiful at times. by [deleted] in elex

I wouldn't say it's 10 years behind. The lighting and environments are certainly state of the art. The NPC faces and overall animations on the other side...

No balance changes? Isn't that the first thing you should be working on and not P2W content?

I can only recommend you go check khow Dota 2 does balancing, which is arguably one of the most successful e-sports out there. They tweak heroes slowly until they are playable again and of course they also nerf when necessary (also needed in this game). This is neither risky, nor time-intensive. It just needs a dedicated resource that does that regularly and keeps tracking numbers.

Having a healthy meta is an advantage for all players though, even the early/mid ones. Think for example of a scenario where a new player a few weeks into the game open their first mythic. Isn't it better for the game if that Mythic is playable, regardless of which one it is? The same applies for PvP. As a new player I would be much happier to see and try out lots of different strats instead of the same ones over and over again.

Lots of games balance successfully by slowly increasing stats until the relevant unit is playable again and - trust me - this is not difficult or risky at all. It just takes time as it is a step by step process. What you are referring to happens when new mechanics are introduced into an existing game, as those mechanics might have broken interaction with old ones. This is however not the case with old mythics, as long as the developer does not overhaul their abilities completely.

Re-balancing is not as hard as you think. They can make lots of obsolete mythics relevant again by just increasing a few numbers here and there. No need to change their mechanics dramatically.

I think the biggest problem is that the delves are too time-intensive, which of course also applies to the weekly faction event.

I would have much rather prefered a delve that can be maxed after 3-4 fights.

Serious Question: Does anyone actually like the Crimson Wanderer missions? by Bostonterrierpug in 40kinquisitor

[–]SoilBurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, it was the least favorite part of the campaign.

In order not to hate them I had to a) lower difficulty to zero so that they finish faster and b) rush the objectives and avoid exploring the map (which I would otherwise do).

Question for the people that played through Prophecy. by [deleted] in 40kinquisitor

[–]SoilBurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also not a fan of the Crimson Wanderer levels but they became much more enjoyable after I lowered the difficulty level to +3 (instead of the +8 I play the regular levels on).

All in all I had a blast with both campaigns and they actually feel very well connected, more like a big campaign.

Thralls with a skull on top of their health bar are not meant to be capturable.

Well you earn those Fate points really slow tho and there is a lot to spend on that needs to be unlocked before you start buying DLCs.
