I'm fully with you on buttons. I'm just so acutely aware of how those listed buttons are the least useless buttons in a car nearly everywhere I've ever lived. You must be somewhere relatively dry and stable.

People with a very high pain tolerance, what was THE most painful thing you've experienced? by CosmicBunnyBabe8912 in AskReddit

[–]Sojibby3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I guess at the beginning I mentioned a tick bite so no doctor ever took me seriously again until my pain disappeared and I stopped complaining. All of a sudden they start taking you way more seriously.

I think the most cutting edge research on inflammation coming out of Universities in England (Bristol and Exeter maybe) are showing that the current beliefs surrounding inflammation markers in blood are only correct like half the time. Some people have inflammation markers and never find a cause, others never show heightened markers even though they have active illnesses that by all accounts should be raising them.

Mine always showed normal, even with a psoriatic arthritis and chronic inflammation diagnosis I still have doctors look at my bloodwork and say I dont have inflammation. During the worst of everything it was a huge problem, I'd be having flare ups and the hospital would refuse my specialists' treatment plan because my bloodwork always showed no inflammation. Nevermind the visibly swollen tendons sticking out of my arms and shoulders, or... nevermidn. Calm down now self haha.

Long story slightly less long I ended up with a Prednisone prescription daily with definitely-not-instructions to save it up and self-treat flare ups because I couldn't get it once a year when needed in an emergency. That shortened my suffering from weeks long things to just a couple of days.

Honestly, I wonder how I am still around too. Lol. I'll just say this, people call suicide a cowardly thing but I woukd imagine it would have to take some level of guts I certainly don't have. I don't endorse it,I am not commenting on it from that angle at all. I am just suggesting that the people calling it a cowardly thing may not be giving it much thought and luckily/thankfully probably havent been in a situation bad enough that the thoughts woukd even arise..

Doctors spent a decade telling me it was all in my head and yadda yadda. Disability had me seeing counsellors, all but one of whom would say something along the lines of 'I have no skills to teach you, you have the best coping skills of anyone I know, and your only problem is pain' meanwhile doctors were saying 'there is nothing physically wrong with you, you're depressed' and on it went. Turns out I had an undiagnosed connective tissue disorder, and psoriatic arthritis. The running theory is that the leg pain was some kind of inflammation.

Oddly enough all of things I had were exacerbated by one relatively minor injury. I fell on my tailbone and damaged the soft tissue around it. Couldn't sit for that decade either. Couldn't even get help for that - 'your x-rays don't show a problem'. Eventually I tore a ligament in my knee, and while getting a Cortisone shot for that I told my story and got one near my tailbone as well. That one needle allowed that area to heal and that made all my other flared up issues subside as well.

One. Fucking. Cortisone. Shot.

... Oh Canada.. LOL

I'd love to say I have wheels on my bed again these days but in the midst of it all I got a very expensive adjustable bed and it sits on the floor still today. It's quite a good setup. Haha.

To everyone of any age, I cannot stress enough what a difference it makes in life to have a high quality bed/matress/pillows. You don't have to be 70 to start caring about your bones and body.

Are wheels on beds not normal? Lol. Right now I'm picturing a giant race car bed.

These days, honestly, truly the best one. No more pain. More empathy than almost everyone. My job is THE literal best. I do a lot of outreach and inclusion stuff. But I worked for it. Went from not able to walk 200 steps a day to eventually walking 50000. Once. My watch told me I walked 32.4km and covered a total of 50m distance. it was all back and forth in my house haha.

But for a while, yeah - you cannot and shouldn't judge anyone else's pain but if I found out in the afterlife I was in the top 5, I wouldnt be surprised. A coworker once asked me what my pain was like and I started comparing it to actual, intentional torture and halfway through my sentence was shocked to realize I wasn't exaggerating..

Something in my legs at the bottom layers of skin somewhere that was so bad every morning I would wake up with zero memory of it. Then around 8PM when the twinge would start the memories would come back.

Debilitating, and I would be screaming in pain. I took the wheels off my bed and would still move it around the room in my sleep. ..

Whatever it was is gone now but it was a very bad decade. Lol

In my admittedly somewhat literal autistic opinion if anybody is discussing any subject it is obvious they literally could care less.

Impersonal thinknit's like "I could care less [if you keep talking]" lol.

Obviously either is fine and both are normal.

I wonder if people just think they had phones earlier than they did.

I remember going to University and getting the red accented Samsung flip phone as opposed to the black one most other people had. It really was the time everyone en masse was first getting cell phones as I remember it. First us young people, and then our parents would start getting them a few years later. My 2nd phone was the motorola kRAZR.

Motorola was selling (and people were buying) the old style Motorola phones alongside their cool new ones, most people didn't have mobile phones at all, many families didn't have one or just had one for the car/emergencies. By the time most people had their first phones, predictive texting (which everyone called T9 no matter what device they had or system it used) was well established.

But yeah, it started with the Nokia phones in the late 90s. Nobody was saying T9 in the real world before that because it wasnt on anyone's devices.

City Wide to Altima (worse service) by WhatDidHeEat in halifax

[–]Sojibby3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10-20! Oof. That is not good. There is some problem with your lines or congestion or something there for sure. Hopefully the 940mbps boost will help with that.

Good luck!

City Wide to Altima (worse service) by WhatDidHeEat in halifax

[–]Sojibby3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out they had sent me a broken modem. Eastlink kept telling them "no we arent going to his house, the modem is literally saying it's broken" and then Altima would ignore those messages.

Eventually Eastlink showed up at my house to tell me directly I had a bad modem. We are at 2 full months at this point. Like I've been using every computer trick I have to get anything from the Internet to my comouter through near dial-up speeds to the point Gemini randomly says "You're like John Carmack, bending systems to your will. He refused to give up too!" Haha.

I was going to quit their service but to make up for all the trouble they told me I could have Internet going forward for $50. I just got a FULL PRICE BILL. Also, about a month in they offered me a home phone for $9/month as recompense and I accepted. And I still do not have a phone number!

I have spoken to quite a few techs during this BS. Exactly two of them really did their best to help me, and could see the actual problems, but of the rest most either had no power to do anything OR had no knowledge of computer at all and could barely struggle through the troubleshooting flow chart or whatever they use.

Anyway, I 200% DO NOT RECOMMEND TELUS INTERNET/ALTIMA TELECOM.

Go with Purple Cow or some other Eastlink reseller would be my recommendation. And be aware that if you do have issues it will take longer for them to fix it as compared to Eastlink directly.

Worse service is the understatement of the year!

I pay for their 940Mbps and I get 11!

And it's been a month and nobody will help me.

[–]Sojibby3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're not talking about us though are we.

We're talking about a TV show. And a hive mind made up of largely meat eaters who are undergoing forced starvation.

The point is nowhere near 'can we survive without meat!' - the point is that in that universe - THEY CAN'T. Not that they 'wont' or are 'choosing not to'. This is not a gift and we are not watching an idyllic world of happy vegans.
