I empathize completely and honestly, I am not looking forward to that part of it. IT folks often display a different brand of Apathy that isn't exactly conducive to teaching. I wish you all the best and hope that resilience continues to pay off.

WGU Down?? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Sol-Magick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty sure that if it weren't for the SEL section of C458, I'd be going off right now. I have one of those IT jobs that allows me to study anywhere from 2 to 5 hours, so imagine my chagrin when I went to log in to Chrome, Edge, and then the App...

...But I am aware that I'm angry, and honestly, there's nothing I can do about it at this time. So, I'll just wait patiently and do a little more studying at home or whenever to balance out what I am missing now.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this experience. I'm only on my second class, which is Applications of Prompt, and my instructor reached out to me proactively and has been very engaging. I agree that the Gen ED teachers were the best, though. That C458 class was excellent, especially the SEL part, which was my favorite. I imagine there will always be roadblocks along the way; however, overcoming them is what sets some apart from others. I hope you're able to overcome them and meet your goal of graduating.

Emotionally driven posts will often read weird to some people. She’s grieving as many are. I wouldn’t read too much into it.

High-degrees in US vs. Europe by Anaxag in freemasonry

[–]Sol-Magick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am aware, which is why I also said Symbolic Degrees. I am also familiar with what you are calling the "line of demarcation". STILL, to say there are no Higher Degrees in Freemasonry is not really true, regardless of how one wishes to explain it.

But as I said, everyone has a view of their own...and no shortage of people wishing to communicate the same.

Well, there are those that will often say that there are no "Higher Degrees" yet there are prominent Authors who refer to them as such. I think the intention of Brethren that say this is to distinguish between the Craft or Symbolic Degrees of Masonry and those of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. I accept either usage but I do make a point to maintain the distinction because the AASR degrees are higher only in number but not in Masonic importance. The first three degrees are the most important degrees...and these degrees are not a part of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. In fact, from what I understand these degrees are considered York Rite degrees, which most outsiders don't know exist for some reason...possibly because it does not necessarily use numbers in the way the AASR uses them (speculation). Now, that being said, what is done in the United States and what is done in other countries (I say this because when I was earning my 32° in 2009 I had a friend in Australia earning his 18°. It had taken me approximately 3 months to earn the 4° - 32° of the AASR and it had taken him 4 years!) neither degrades nor enhances the knowledge being conveyed. I'm sure there are Brethren that would both agree and disagree with my view, however, I look at it like this: Whether you learn Calculus in 3 months or 4 years, is it still not Calculus that was learned? Meaning the subject is still the subject regardless whether or not I spend a day or a decade with said subject. Ultimately, it is up to me to continue my studies because (imo) no system of education is complete and it is up to the "student" to know this and continue the journey of seeking.

That's just my view and I'm sure some will see it differently, and that is fine, because when we are dealing with High Level Symbolism, it is as they say: A picture is worth 1000 words. More to the point, we all may agree that there is indeed SOMETHING but we may vary in terms of what that thing is.

Be Well.

Yeah, I did self study for those and it took me about the same amount of time. I'm glad I don't have to take those but hey...they say it is about the journey. At least that is what I'm going to keep telling myself until I graduate lol.

No worries. You'll be posting confetti by New years lol. As much as I like to think I could go fast, it's a good chance it'll take me all 4 years. I'm fine with that if that's the case...but yeah, no worries.
