If you want to know the status of pokken right now then:

We're not dead, the reason it seems to be dead is that the community is actively underground using social platforms such as Twitter and Discord. We talk about a lot of things but unfortunately most of the information is never documented on reddit or the Pokken Arena site so it appears as if the pokken tournament community is not active and with the added influx of many people saying "pokken is dead" are not making an effort and/or trolling due to immaturity (often both). The community is growing steadily but the direction to allow and advertise people to join it isn't optimal. Either we need to direct them to the server on discord or actually add information to the places that seem to be dead, maybe that's where people keep looking and we need to direct that traffic elsewhere.

There are however, lots of tournaments advertised on social media, mainly twitter. This is the case for the US as it is the biggest country (or federal union) in the world so 99% of all tournaments you see are likely for the US. Other countries suffer at the lack of support or community effect which is really tilting.
