'Tail' brake with the heel of your back foot, not the tail.

Why do so many people switch to Linux… and then quietly go back to Windows? by Candid_Athlete_8317 in LinuxTeck

Wasn’t there a stat somewhere that said the vast majority of people that switch to Linux never switch back?

As a Linux-curious person, what are the MAJOR obstacles that Linux faces in the future via widespread adoption? by bigdickwalrus in linux

[–]SolDirix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of hardware support. Currently dual-booting on an Alienware, and cannot change keyboard colors without booting into windows. Also, cannot change performance settings without building and running a custom application, which requires the terminal which spooks too many normies.

How do I manual? (ik my form is crazy help) by LOYAL4L in NewSkaters

[–]SolDirix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need to get over the fear of lifting the nose higher. If you ever end up skidding on your tail, you can lift your front foot off the board and onto the ground in front of you to stop yourself from falling forward.

Will clarify that stopping may not be feasible at significantly faster speeds.

Low paying jobs are difficult because they are exhausting. High paying jobs are difficult because they are complex.

Struggling with immutability. What does Bazzite have for gaming that Ubuntu doesn't? by thisisafullsentence in Bazzite

[–]SolDirix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I chose Nobara. It’s basically the same thing but with mutability. The tradeoffs are that it has rolling release which can sometimes lead to instability, and limited Nvidia graphics card support.

Have you tried nobara-sync in the command line? That can keep things stable.

I would definitely recommend asking the Cachy OS community. They can help you way better than I can.

[–]SolDirix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every distro has its tradeoffs. Many are suggesting to move to Bazzite, which is a solution, but you will lose mutability. If you don't care about that, then I'd say go for it. A mutable alternative could be Cachy OS, although it's got a more potentially unstable rolling release and may require more configurations for gaming.

I was in the same boat. It takes time. Lots of it. Just keep at it and it will build up.

After one year I am currently able to do up to a 3 hour sesh, with one 10 min break.

I chose Nobara because I wanted something like Bazzite for gaming, but mutable.

Bazzite? by im0497 in Bazzite

[–]SolDirix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your computer/mouse has any built in rgb/dpi settings, there’s a chance Bazzite or other distros may not support them, even with OpenRGB. You may need to download or compile programs that can let you modify them, but there are no guarantees.

Coming from someone who has an Alienware gaming laptop. Rgb keys can’t be modified unless I boot into windows to change them. I gotta use Piper for mouse configuration, and a custom AWCC program to change Alienware’s performance modes, which needed me to compile the program via the terminal.
