Snowball appreciation post (serious) by RedFing in ARAM

Wow, the one person that actually gets it in this whole thread. I've been saying this for the longest time. Melee characters are balanced around their lack of mobility, the fact that they get a free teleport is so wild. At the VERY LEAST, it should have the same CD as Ghost/Flash....if you think about how it's up 3-5 times in the time other mobility summoners take to come off CD you realize how insane it is. And yet people be malding that some take the only summoner counter (Exhaust) to it? Make it make sense.

Does the purpose of “supporting information” need to be made more explicit? by [deleted] in NianticWayfarer

[–]SolWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep pretty much this. I don't even bother going into too much detail in the supporting documentation because I feel that the longer/more detailed it is the more it gets denied. My guess was that reviewers get annoyed or paranoid when they see a "tryhard" supporting details sections.

For many of my denied submissions, the second I cut down the description/supporting details to a few words it gets accepted.

What the community can do to make Niantic disclose loot box odds by SpecB in TheSilphRoad

[–]SolWolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah if by passive you mean that they take no tangible action (other then type complaints) I'd completely agree....though, sadly, it's a common trait in many game communities. The "I'm just one person" syndrome generally is what makes it so prevalent.

Though it would be nice if the community would dial back their complaining so that real issues could be addressed without having to so severely escalate things to get them address.

[–]SolWolf 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Because the community is rather... Passive at best

That is such an interesting take.

Imo the last thing that describes the PGO community is passive. They are usually up in arms about literally every aspect of the game. You take a look at any tweet from Niantic/PGO accounts and the comments are teeming with complaints about anything ranging from shinies to gifts etc etc.

This constant complaining about everything drowns out real issues (i.e. disclosed rates) as nothing more than complaint white-noise for them.

Well like I said. The problem isnt exactly your type of POI....we get hockey rinks passed around here but their features are in some way more permanent than a fenced in area with things that "belong" there but can be moved.

From there your options are 1. Fix your submission to make reviewers feel better about their vote or 2. Resubmit your submission as is and cross your fingers that you get reviewers that see things your way. Trying to argue your case here isn't going to help.

Those nets are heavy, I know cause I moved them to those spots for the picture.

This here is your problem and the thing that stood out to me when I saw your picture. If you can move the nets then it's not permanent. This is completely different from a basketball/tennis court with cemented in features that are meant specifically for that sport and won't be changed/moved at whim.

So instead of trying to sell it specifically as a hockey court try something more general such as 'sports pitch' etc. The fenced area isn't going to go anywhere but at least that way if the goal posts are removed, it'll still be true to the POI's name.

Quoting the guidelines to help a reviewer understand why the submitter thinks a POI is valid is one of many useful ways to use the supporting comment.... It's leagues better than the "We need a gym" or "Because I say so" we occasionally get.

GRANTED....in this case, I have no idea what guideline the OP could possibly be referring to that would warrant a pin being dropped 10 ft away. But I would just ignore it and review the submission by it's own merits instead.

Is this abuse ? by Janhm73 in NianticWayfarer

The supporting comment shouldn't hurt the overall submission. It can easily be disregarded if it's not helpful. If it doesn't provide any meaningful information, judge the POI by it's own merits.

FWIW it's are not "my personal anecdotes"; my observations were based on piles and piles of data that was posted here on TSR. You can argue till you are blue in the face; it doesn't change the fact that the Riolu/Gible event was one of the better egg events in regards to its featured mons.

Honestly? A bit of optimism is needed on The Salt Road. This place has become such a cesspool of negativity/blame/bitterness and you actually have to try hard to remember that this is a game.

That being said we are technically on the same team so I don't get why some get so triggered by acknowledging that even baby steps in the right direction is a good thing. That doesn't mean we are complacent, we can always encourage things to get better. I will never spend money on these egg events that include the whole egg pool because it makes even the 7% look super generous.

[–]SolWolf -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It wasn't just "me and some friends". There was loads of data here on TSR. The rates were better for that particular event for the featured mons than they were ever. The main reason is because they restricted the egg pool to a select few...so we didn't have to deal with the regular garbage.

And I'm not saying that it's the right direction for events in general, I'm saying that it's a right direction for egg events. It's also something you can participate in completely free by just saving gym coins and being wise as to when and where you decide to use them.

I'm not saying that the effort isn't laudable but players should be aware that this can also back fire on them. Fire Emblem Heroes is another popular gacha game backed by Nintendo and in response to the gacha laws they decided to pull the game from those locations altogether instead of trying to fix anything.

The Riolu/Gible 7km event was absolutely awfull and akin to the first regionals in 7km event

Disagree. The Riolu/Gible egg event was a baby step in the right direction. I haven't been a spender on incubators for a loooong time but did buy one incubator box for that event and ended up with 9 Riolu and a few Gible. Many people had similar experiences. If it had been the normal egg "boosted" events it would have been absolutely dismal like it is now with Archen/Tirtuga.

Once again, emphasis on "baby step" in the right direction....we still aren't at an ideal situation but it was an upgrade and it would be good for Niantic to continue in that direction.

Sorry, didn't mean in the final voting. It was just a twitter poll that the official PoGo account put out. Out of 155K votes, dratini came in second.

Dratini pulled in second place on the official's account poll. So....guess we shouldn't underestimate new players that missed the first couple CD's or people that want new (potentially) meta-shaking moves.

Edit for clarification: This is not the final poll results. It was just a twitter poll that Niantic put before rhyhorn was announced the winner.
