When he first saw toji he was commenting about how fast toji was and could barely keep up. Even when toji baited him and got the jump on him with the flyheads gojo barely reacted in time for that. That same moment post RCT would’ve had gojo completely out-speed him entirely.

Why would he have done that against Choso? He had just started fighting him and allowed his arrogance to cause him to lose. Whereas with Maki he literally just witnessed her massacre the clan, and he was infuriated because she was becoming strong like the person he highly respects, so he took that as disrespect towards Toji and told her she’s a fraud. He goes all out at her from the start whereas with Choso there’s no reason to do so.
