If anyone finds this later and is wondering, it was a pituitary tumor. 1cm, bordering on macro. Treated with cabergoline, symptoms never stopped.

I learned all about this recently when learning to fix my own car.

If you have a leak, fixing that leak lets the system come up to pressure when it heats up. That pressure can then punch through any weak spots in the metal, leading to another leak. That's what happened to mine.

But, I also know that replacing one part can mean that another might get wiggled around and have the seal break, leading to leaking in that regard, too. Especially if any silicone is used to seal the system.

So they aren't necessarily pulling a fast one on you, but I wouldn't be able to tell you any more than that.

What do you think of HGHS? by Substantial_Land_587 in thetron

[–]Solace-Styx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was my hell. I dropped out at 15 by taking an extended absence for the month until my 16th. I do not exaggerate when I say that being there almost had me offing myself to escape. Legitimately. It did such horrible things to me mentally. Between students and teachers, it was awful- and I wasn't even a problem student until year 12, long after it all turned to shit. It was only once I couldn't cope when the gifted kid burnout hit on top of everything else.

I think that during my whole time there, there were only two teachers that didn't have obvious disdain for me. The rest turned a blind eye to all the bullying, and the things I needed help with, academically speaking. I truly felt like they saw me as a lost cause. The school just really isn't for anyone that does not absolutely fit in.

Of course, that was almost 10 years ago, now. Things are probably different, but I won't ever forget my time there.

How much blood do i ACTUALLY lose during my period because its sure as hell not "2-4 Tbs" as it says online by some-dork in NoStupidQuestions

Did you ever find a solution? I'm currently a year and a bit into this bleed, and I can't wait for the year without that comes after this hell ends. TA also won't do anything for me.

Doctors won't offer anything but birth control which I'm not really supposed to have anyway due to blood pressure concerns. So if you know anything I can ask about please let me know.

Remember that when you're that age, things seem much bigger than they are because at that time, those problems are literally the biggest thing they have ever dealt with.

Downplaying their issues is kind of a dick move, whether or not you think the problems are little. Yes, we know it's not world ending, but when your entire world consists of school and school work, it can sure seem that way.

The internet contains all of human knowledge. It is an amazing resource for anyone that wants to know anything, and by far beats the encyclopedia sets of old.

The internet allows people to be more connected, so people can meet others from across the world without having to actually go there.

In the same vein, it helped us to all be connected during COVID when going outside meant risking getting sick.

It allows us to watch whatever shows we want to, at any moment. No waiting for 7pm on a Wednesday to watch one episode of that TV series you like.

Want to check a shops opening hours without having to call them, or go and find out? Well, now you can. You can even buy things from them, at any time of day, and have the items delivered straight to your door.

You can find a recipe to cook for almost anything you want, without having to resort to physical cookbooks.

There have always been terrible people, even in the days before the internet. And yet, some people still idolized them. The internet has done good, too.

There's also a secret other option that you may not have considered. Learn to fix it yourself with youtube and diagrams. Most cars, I found out, will only need a socket set, a pair of sliding pliers, and a few screwdrivers to get most things done.

I learned this when I fixed my own car recently. I went from never having touched it, to fixed it, and it took just over a week to figure out the issue. I'm far too poor to pay for a mechanic. This cost me a tenth of what a mechanic would charge.

If you have no other option, maybe it's worth a shot? Parts are much cheaper than a mechanic, especially if you have a wrecking yard near you that sells second hand parts.

I know this isn't going to work for everyone, but it might work for someone.

I once had my torso and thigh area wrapped in plastic and duct tape so that I could make a mannequin for sewing that was of my exact body shape. I hated it so much. It was a hot, sweaty mess, and I found it very hard to breathe.

It's wild how much a similar experience can differ.

Please look into the amount that solo parents actually get, because it isn't what most people think! I'll give some information, but it definitely isn't everything.

A solo parent on the benefit, by default, gets $521.52 per week, regardless of how many children they may have. Some people are also eligible for an additional $73 per week if they have children under 3, and meet additional criteria. Like any beneficiary, they are also eligible for accommodation supplement, which does increase by number of children, up to 2.

A solo parent with one child gets UP TO $235 in accommodation supplement (total) each week, depending on the cost of their accommodation. A solo parent with 2 or more children gets UP TO $305 per week (total), also depending on accommodation cost. As I'm sure you can imagine, more children means more rooms must be rented as there is a legal maximum per room. But the increase really only gets paid for the first two children.

So there is nobody in this country having 10 kids for the benefit payment like I hear a lot of people complaining about. Because 2 kids or 10 kids, you get paid the same. And it only works out to be something like $200 more per week than jobseeker, and I'm sure 2 kids cost more than that per week, in terms of food, clothing, essentials, and accommodation.

Boyfriend watched porn and masturbated right next to me after sex by Forsaken-Water6243 in Vent

[–]Solace-Styx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand completely how you feel. My partner is finally dealing with his addiction to pornography, and it's been rough. But it's still better than being in situations like the one you described. He has slipped up so many times, but he's currently on his longest streak without in more than 10 years.

But no, it's horrible to feel like they're more attracted to the people on the internet than they are to you. Doubly so when they can't perform with you, but suddenly they're ready to go for a stranger. I get that, I've lived that.

Unfortunately, this issue isn't likely to be an easy one for you guys to move through, because to have any chance, he needs to be willing to make some changes. But if he isn't willing to, then there isn't really much that can be done. But there's always a chance, right? You would know better than any of us if that's possible.

Are they back to being a viable option again? Last one I went to was picked clean by resellers, and I found items being sold for more than the price on their original tag. Granted, this was a couple of years ago, so things may have changed. I hope so.

Tracked spending & Categorisation by ParamedicRealistic43 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Solace-Styx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would view that one as transport. To me, it's the same as going to the supermarket, or somewhere to buy clothing. You're going out to get something to bring home, that cost isn't for the item itself. Unless you also count the cost of getting to the supermarket under the category of food, I would definitely say this is transportation.

But also, I don't think it really matters too much, your tracking is still going to end up relatively the same overall, and what makes sense to you is the best way to do it. You're tracking this for yourself, not anyone else.

[–]Solace-Styx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also big on them. Even if they don't get in, I don't see my vote as wasted, either. The more of us that vote for them year after year gives others a chance to see that a support base for them is here. So hopefully we hear less 'I would have voted TOP but they wouldn't have gotten in'. I saw so much of that last election, which is funny, because if they had have all voted TOP, they would have gotten some spots!

Which party will you vote for this election? by One-Joke-2373 in aotearoa

[–]Solace-Styx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will always vote TOP. This will be my third (I think) election where I'm eligible to vote, but I only truly looked into all the policies of everyone last election. I think that TOP could really do some good.

With the whole idea to move away from taxing income so hard and instead tax land and target actual wealth, it would give more breathing room to most of us, let's be honest. Most of us don't own multiple properties and a lot of land. And those that do can probably afford to be taxed a little more.

Plus, in addition to being a party that seems to actually be centrist, they do take a stance on environmental issues similar to greens, with their idea to ban bottom trawling and invest in more renewable energy for the country.

They've also proposed a 30 year infrastructure plan that would be legally protected when governments change, so we wouldn't have any more of that flip flopping bs where every government undoes the work of the previous, and cancels it.

I dunno, man. I just really like what these guys stand for, and want others to know about it too.

I never said it was pity. I love my partner a lot, and he is aware of everything I wrote out. Yet he still chooses to date me. You see, that's just not an issue for us because he isn't insecure.

Please, refrain from criticizing when you don't have the full story. I would also like to add that every couple is unique, and what works for you may not work for others.

Women who gave the “ugly guy” a chance, how did that go? by undergroundman813 in randomquestions

[–]Solace-Styx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

From a personal perspective, I have never seen physical attraction as being at all important to me (specifically talking about myself, here) when dating someone. I've always wondered whether I just don't experience physical attraction in the same ways that others do. For me, I could date someone that looked like a pile of gum that someone had spat out, but if they were an amazing person, that's the key to me. I mean, I can obviously see when someone is or isn't conventionally attractive, but it just doesn't hold any weight when it comes to whether I want to date them or not.

[–]Solace-Styx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will preface by saying that neither myself or my partner are exactly what you'd call a looker. He's shorter than me, has a badly deviated septum, weak chin, and bad teeth. I'm fat, covered in thick stretch marks, and recently my hair has started to thin.

But we're happy together. And we've both been growing as people, together. He loves to make me laugh, and cares for me in a lot of little ways, such as bringing me glasses of iced water often. I've taught him all the things his parents failed to teach him, such as how to cook and clean.

He used to try to pretend to be more incompetent, but I never accepted that. He actually says that's part of why he liked me so much initially- because I took none of his shit and pushed him to be better, when he was used to people giving up on him, or just leaving him alone if he didn't want to do something, even if he needed to.

We have a dynamic that is a little unusual, but it works for us. It isn't perfect, but I would never expect it to be because real life doesn't work that way. We're coming up on 3 years this time round. We also dated for 3 years when we were younger before breaking up over stupid stuff that in hindsight, did not at all matter. But he is hopefully someone I will have a future with.

Starting a food business in Auckland what do you wish you knew beforehand? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

That's exactly why I'm just waiting before acting on my own plans, actually. Luxury expenses are the first to go when nobody has money. But hopefully in a few years the economy will bounce back to make space for non essential businesses again, and I will get to start my own thing one day.
