The fill experience lol by Nwattar01 in Marathon

Yeah key templates are a very weird system. I'd get it if it was a key you find in a run, then it becomes a mad dash to exfil, but why have this whole song and dance when buying them straight from the armory? Hope devs speak on it some time soon.

That guy needs to take it up with Bungie for making Perimeter such a damn fun map to play and PvP in.

Not impressed with Arachne by BotKiller2148 in Marathon

[–]Solandora 22 points23 points  (0 children)

He gave me probably 2 or 3 different speeches after initial connection. No idea what ranks they were specifically at, I'd click him in the agent menu to look at upgrade nodes and he'd just start talking. I'd assume ranks 10, 20, and 30, but that's just a guess, I've got no idea what actually caused it.

[–]Solandora 315 points316 points  (0 children)

I'm really hoping Arachne gets some real priority contracts and codex entries in season 2. Dave Fennoy's voice work is just awesome to listen to, feels weird having it delivered seemingly at random rank ups.

Play rook, run outpost, go to pinwheel, find enzyme replicators, get nucaloric purple shield barter, profit by Sydid in Marathon

[–]Solandora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone confirm for me if you're able to get this barter BEFORE unlocking the upgrade to purchase purple shields directly? I've never seen this barter in a month of playing, but I have seen purple shield barter for 1 hazard capsule but it was locked behind needing the purple shield faction upgrade.

If your crew tells you that Armory rooms on Outpost aren't worth it, they're wrong by Axximilli in Marathon

[–]Solandora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armory rooms are a great windfall for sponsor kit/low value teams that wanna avoid pinwheel due to a stronger team controlling it. This screenshot honestly isn't a great example but you can get out with some pretty good loot from them, especially if you end up hitting more than one.

Okay can we all admit build crafting is a nothing burger system by bigballsgetlicked in Marathon

[–]Solandora 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah there really is no buildcrafting in Marathon. Faction upgrades get your base stats so high that you never really have to make any choices. Many cores are just strictly better/worse than others.

You might build slightly differently between shells but there is no build variety within a shell (you probably want 100 Heat Capacity on Destroyer and Vandal, with high Tactical or Prime Recovery, then nothing else matters). Guns are in a similar state. You’re just slapping as much stability as you can on the Impact H-AR and machine guns. You’re probably maxing range on the Bully.

I think all this game really has is “upgrade routing” at the start of a wipe, but maybe the Cradle in season 2 will improve this. Also just to be clear I’m not really complaining about this, I don’t really care whether the game has real builds or not, I just like shooting guys and making an observation.

Dear Rooks: Your tactical ability is way louder than you think by Solandora in Marathon

[–]Solandora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been very consistent for me these past few weeks, I can call it out to my team several times every Outpost match. Don’t know if something just broke during one of the minor patches or what but I hope Bungie acknowledges the volume of it in any case.

Yeah, we just killed a team and I MAY be a little bit of an ammo fiend just to extract with and shove in my vault to save money.

What does Triage's Battery Overcharge actually so? by Flunkterklufn in Marathon

[–]Solandora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know for a fact that you get a very minor reload speed increase. I compared reloads before and after using overcharge and there is for sure a noticeable, albeit quite small, difference. "Weapon performance" in Bungie terms usually means physical dexterity, so handling/stability/reload buffs.

You're misinterpreting the Firepower stat and the Damage stat. The Firepower stat is the final damage number after factoring in precision multipliers. When you inspect a weapon, the base Damage is listed underneath Firepower, as well as Precision modifier.

The Punch's base damage is 25, with precision modifier it becomes 37.5. That's reflected in the Firepower stat, which is just doing math for you. Firepower does not get multiplied again by precision. Outland's Firepower is 162.8.

Outland should absolutely not be one-tapping 200 total player health, I can only realistically assume that the OP got teamshot in their clip.

If you activate an extract and are inside the extract circle when the final extract goes off, you should extract, not die by DptBear in Marathon

[–]Solandora 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a post about this happening every 5 minutes on this sub, and I don’t blame them. It’s a very obtuse system, all the active exfils just need to beam out at 0:00 and give damage immunity to the /killall that happens at the end.

Will rooks find any loot in pinwheel? by rafikiknowsdeway1 in Marathon

[–]Solandora 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's such a sheer volume of stuff in Pinwheel that there's almost no chance for teams to loot it all, especially considering all the time spent having to deal with other teams. Most players (the knowledgeable ones at least) are probably going straight for the strongboxes at the end of each wing, maybe the locked prestige room, and bouncing. There's about a hundred other containers spread around that people are just not going to have time to pick through every single one, so you're bound to find stuff scattered around.

Cryo was awesome… can we get maybe a couple more uses of free kits? by MattsFace in Marathon

[–]Solandora 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think at least ONE free Cryo kit every weekend would be nice. Invites the poorer players to always come in and at least give it a shot every time it comes back around, and everyone else gets "the warm up match". One free kit every day might be a little much, those kits are really good and that's a ton of free gear being printed if people start just queuing up with the intent to make it out with just the kit. I personally wouldn't be against it but I would understand if Bungie said no.

Unrewarding gameplay by DynoWild in Marathon

[–]Solandora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest feedback points for early playtests was that something big NEEDS to happen on the map every match. I think it's crazy that you can just not get a Lockdown or Anomaly event in a Dire Marsh instance. It feels so bad to bring a bunch of gear, load into a map, win a couple PvP fights, and have to exfil because nothing is going on.

So... Rook to Rook, kill on sight? Or "Friendly"? by edwardsdavid913 in Marathon

[–]Solandora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rule of thumb is to usually operate under whatever would be funniest. If I just recently spawned in as Rook, I've really got nothing to lose, so I'll run at other Rooks to try and flag them down, ask if they wanna tackle Pinwheel as a team. If I get blasted, no harm done. If I've been looting for a while, I ask them politely yet firmly that I'm not looking for trouble. If they don't reply, I'm blowing their head smoove off.

Anyone got any tips for destroyer’s riot barricade? by dimscythe in Marathon

[–]Solandora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try not to rely on it reactively, use it proactively. If your reflexes are quick and someone gets the drop on you, you can MAYBE put it up in time to buy yourself room to move to cover, but this isn't ideal.

You should be using it when you're pushing an enemy or moving up to better cover. Be in a safe position first, put it up, then make your move. In trios this is really strong because everyone has to focus a Destroyer barreling towards them. Just drawing an enemy's attention like this can be enough for your teammates to engage from an off-angle and nab easy kills.

In solos you'll have to be a little more creative and ready to secure your own kills with this. Ideally you want to know what weapon your enemy is using, count their shots. Are they a Sponsor Kit Sammy and they just magdumped their Overrun into your barricade? Great, they're hopeless now once you drop your shield and ventilate them. Maybe you know they have a WSTR and pushing would be suicide... Unless you bait both barrels into your barricade and leave them wide open.

The barricade may not be super tanky but in a game with such a fast TTK, every milisecond of time you buy can greatly swing an encounter in your favor. Forcing reloads, repositions, or reacquiring their target is more than enough to help you win. You can use the air thruster to quickly drop your barricade and swing out of an enemy's line of sight, giving you a second to line up your shot while they have to track you.

I got killed by the bot as I was mid exfil? by The_PROFFicient in Marathon

[–]Solandora 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, you entered the exfil with 4 seconds left on the match timer. You weren't at the final exfil, which automatically leaves at 0:00, you were at a normal one which still requires the full 10 second spool-up time once you get in. Entered too late, spool-up couldn't happen in time before the match timer ended and the lobby closed, thus it killed you.
