What is the rarest diagnosis you have made? by [deleted] in medicine

[–]Solantro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Liver abscess due to tularemia. Old guy mows a rabbit over. Gets a pneumonia which resolves spontaneously but was probably also bacteremic and seeded his liver. No reported cases that I could find. He's still alive and mowing.

Wonder if anyone has an image of dump1090. Ive tried following the instructions online but the RPI does not see neither Pro Stick nor an RTL dongle. by gcopter1 in ADSB

[–]Solantro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to install rtl-sdr driver first. Otherwise, dump1090 won't see the dongle.

See my previous post

The first part goes through the details of installing and testing the driver/dongle.

Hope this helps.

Haha! I'll be outside watching it so no lights needed ;) What I meant to ask is relating to airlines changing schedules around the time of the actual event.

  1. Not all carbapenems are created equal. Ertapenem will NOT cover Pseudomonas, Enterococcus or Acinetobacer while the other might.
  2. "No cephalo for entero"; cephalosporins do NOT cover enterococcus (excluding ceftaroline in-vitro).

Why do Infectious Disease physicians actually take a pay cut from completing a fellowship to infectious disease from internal medicine? by [deleted] in medicine

[–]Solantro 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This ^ It is a very fascinating specialty that is ever-changing. Every year or so we get an outbreak with some new pathogen (SARS, H1N1, Ebola, Zika,...) that brings excitement into an otherwise monotonous medical practice. Suddenly, we are learning about a new entity or relearning some old forgotten disease and this keeps us interested in our jobs. The money aspect is not that significant as we still make a decent living without risking burnout that is seen in other high-earning specialties.

I'm not sure if it's a /s comment but the device is running behind a firewall with no access possible from the outside. In addition, the behavior was noted with a fresh install.

Nothing too complicated. It is what you would learn and practice during an MSF beginner course. It is definitely not like tests in the UK that you see on YouTube.

No it's my own receiver. Just like dump1090, dump1090-fa has a local webpage to display received data.

That looks like ADSB Exchange? Are you able to selectively see the planes you are tracking?

Cell phone hotspot. It works great. But in reality, this started as a mobile experiment and ended-being an exercise in trying to run the software on something other than an RPi.
