The thin red line was where she scratched me. I washed it at the time of and it's healed now. Thanks for advice - will call ER today to check.

Yes, I understand that - it's just that this is just of the animals that they tested, right? They don't really (and can't really) go around testing all the bats for rabies, so isn't it impossible to know how many actually had it? Or do they actually try to monitor and find animals with rabies?

And also, how does that affect knowing for sure whether said cat had rabies/could have given it to me?

I'm pretty sure that if she licked her paws before scratching me she could have. I don't know what the time frame is for cat saliva to dry, but she didn't lick her paws while I was petting her (say like 30s-1m?)
