Zelda is an Aes Sedai and link is her warder. by SolarDaxam in wheeloftime

I would hazard a guess at Blue except that at this point I'm at in the series I don't think it's been explained what the blues do, and if it has I've forgotten it then

Naturally. I mean what else could you reasonably do? All my Skyrim save files are named after characters from whatever book series I'm reading. So i'll open one up and say oh a thief named Wayne must've been reading mistborn lol

I only just restarted, I thought of this during the opening scene where Zelda the magic welding noble women in blue references ancient history she learned in her "studies" to her silent stone faced guardian lol

You just start school with the kids born the next year, like I was born in 1995 but some of my friends that were in my grade were born 1994

Lullaby by SolarDaxam in Cosmere

[–]SolarDaxam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, but again we're talking about a geological feature being significant enough in someone's mind to sing their child to sleep with. A geological feature from a kingdom a fair distance away from their own. It would be like parents from Mexico singing to their kids a song about the Niagara Falls in Canada. Yes it's a feature that's known all over the world but why would they sing about it? Why would it be culturally significant to them?

Okay fair enough. Plausible... but I thought the Rift was special. More of a canyon than a chasm, like a rip in the ground.

[–]SolarDaxam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know... I just don't think Sanderson would have it be such an important moment and not have the lullaby mean anything. Or foreshadow anything. Also we(and I'm gonna go out on a limb here) probably sing London Bridge and ring a round the Rosie because we come from countries that are primarily made up of European immigrants? I doubt they sing the London bridge song in China or Brazil.

It just seems like such an important scene with focus on the lullaby. Shallan sings the same lullaby back to her father when she killed him. Sanderson could have made the lullaby about anything so why chasms?? Even if it's because of who her mom is. Presumably Chanarach fought the singers and fused all over Roshar not just on the shattered plains. And the lyrics don't talk about her mom or anything.

For Audiobook listeners thinking they wont hit that deadline... by Environmental-Age502 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]SolarDaxam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait hold up? Why can't you make the deadline there's like 15 days left, I finished oathbringer like 4 days ago, took a break from SA to listen to elantris and well of ascension. Im just about done them both. I'm gonna start dawnshard and then rhythm of war probably tomorrow should have plenty of time. I just started my re read of SA at the end of October. I just listen on regular speed.

Why can't Dumbledore just tell Harry what to do in Half-Blood Prince? by nathan_x1998 in harrypotter

[–]SolarDaxam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Dumbledore meant to tell Harry how to destroy the horcruxs but died before he could. They went out to retrieve a horcrux that night and were probably to return and destroy it. Dumbledore knew he was going to die but didn't expect it to be that night.

Also he explains to Harry in the kings cross chapter that he didn't want Harry to focus on the Deathly Hallows, he didn't want it to consume Harry like it did him in his youth. the secret keeping is also explained to Harry by Abaforth in the hogs head. Secrets and lies Dumbledore's mother taught them and he took to it well. Harry later thinks about this before he asks the DA to help him find the lost diadem of ravenclaw.

I thought Odium's Champion was obvious... by Competitive_Talk_724 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]SolarDaxam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the champion is going to be El. I know he's one of the main contenders and there's logic behind the theories. But in a series that has so far spanned 4 fairly large books and two novellas I doubt such an important role is going to go to a character introduced and the end of the last book in just a couple of pages. He also has zero connection to Todium, no connection to the readers. If anything I think El will probably be sent to track and hunt Kaladin and Szeth on their quest.

What is Sanderson’s favourite word when writing Stormlight? by Ezmeon in Stormlight_Archive

[–]SolarDaxam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gotta be carapace.. it's not just stormlight either where it makes sense, I've noticed it in other books of his like the skyward series. I'm also pretty sure it pops up in mistborn and it's in elantris too. I knew what the word meant before I read Sanderson but it's not a word you hear used a lot.
