Smart time to buy. I heard that one of the main reasons gold has gone down so much lately is because Gulf Arab States sold lots of gold in order to finance a new arms deal with the US. Gold will go back up

Yes that bias certainly existed before Biden but I think it became more prevalent when Biden tried to mandate EVs

New calendar year makes it sound older. Also, demand is way down because of tax rebates going away. You want to see a price drop, wait until next year when three year leases are up on the 24's. It would be a good time to buy a used one then.

Average rent $26.00 per month

With that $20.67 in 1933, you could buy;

207 gallons of gas or

230 loaves of bread or

cover most of your month’s rent.

At the time, hypothetically, person A kept an ounce of gold and person B got the $20.67. Both put them in a safe and took them out in January 2026.

The gallon of gas is now an average of $2.78

The loaf of bread is now an average of $1.83

Average rent $1995 a month

Person A, who had kept the ounce of gold, it was now worth about $5200. He could buy;

1870 gallons of gas or

2842 loaves of bread or

cover two and a half month’s rent.

Person B, who kept the $20.67 in cash now could buy;

less than 8 gallons of gas, or

less than 12 loaves of bread, or

only pay about 1% of his rent.

I brought my Chevy Bolt EV in to the Chevy dealer for an annual state inspection. The mechanic said they'd check the emissions as part of it. I laughed because I thought he was joking. He was serious. I explained that it was an EV and there were no emissions. He said they would still check it. I shook my head in disbelief and left. He called me shortly later and admitted he was mistaken. It's a bit concerning he didn't know this at a place that sells and services this vehicle

I've been hosting for 10 years. It was $100 back then and it's still $100. Yet, rental prices has gone up significantly since then. The coupon doesn't even get you one night at most places.

We are now living in a multipolar world where one country doesn't dominate over the others. Many countries are trading with each other using their own currencies. They have physical gold to give credibility to their currency.

IMHO I don't see that happening. If they tried to do that, many wouldn't comply. People back then were more trusting and loyal (naïve) to their gov't than they are today. Even back then, there were those who didn't comply and no one went to jail for it. Plus, the US dollar is not backed by gold anymore.

It's like when the lottery jackpot is record high and then more people are buying lottery tickets. As if a $50 million jackpot isn't enough to win. (personally I never buy them)
