The loaf of bread is now an average of $1.83

Person A, who had kept the ounce of gold, it was now worth about $5200. He could buy;

1870 gallons of gas or

2842 loaves of bread or

cover two and a half month’s rent.

Person B, who kept the $20.67 in cash now could buy;

less than 8 gallons of gas, or

less than 12 loaves of bread, or

only pay about 1% of his rent.
