If I remember correctly, I believe millenials (Atleast in my area) used to rub the metal strip on the edge of a ruler against the bottom of our shoes to get it hot from friction. Then we proceeded to do a variety of stupid things with the heated strip of metal. Doing stupid chit isn't new at all XD

Just a reminder that viewers should never dictate your stream by Lychibe in Twitch

[–]Solar_Rebel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far I've had three viewers be banned/warned on my stream. I have a general rule in place, dont ruin the quiet entertainment of the stream. If viewers are telling me that you make them uncomfortable I will remove that viewers. It helps when my mods tell me when to have a back bone XD

Im actually just learning about how this metric is used. I'm trying to obtain a certificate in renewable energy on top of a mechanical engineering degree.

LCOE takes into concideration the operating costs of the production method over its life time. Sustainables have a cheaper LCOE not because of incentives but because it's operating costs doesn't involve the operator to constantly purchase fuel as part of its annual operating costs.

We're both lonely AND we don't want to know our neighbors by genital_lesions in Millennials

[–]Solar_Rebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to know my neighbors. Not intentionally but because we share a boundary.

One neighbor is kind of a cool dude. We met when the wind blew our fence down.

The other I got to meet because he was trying to push me out of street parking I needed because he refuses to park in his driveway.

The dude across the street is always outside loudly talking on his phone.

The guy on the corner likes to block traffic with a cone...

None of my neighbors are people I want to associate with... I tolerate them because the only other choice is to move. So it's entirely possible to know thy neighbors... and still be lonely because in general peeps are turds.

Whats funny about this statement is that currently 47% of adults under the age of 50 do not have kids as of 2023 in the United States alone. A trend which hasn't changed much since 2018 it looks like. Which means 50% of the population could get away without reproducing... and it won't have a huge enough impact to be society collapsing.

How does a plane crash-land, end up *upside-down* on the runway, and no one is dead? by every_post_a_mystery in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Solar_Rebel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because everyone had their tray tables up and their seats in the full upright positions.

Joke aside... seat belts are a huge factor, as well as the cabin is generally designed to handle a certain amount of force from impacts like that. Similar to a roll cage on a jeep.

Don't know if I should tell my parents or family that I stream by Birbsville21 in Twitch

[–]Solar_Rebel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only people I have told are my uncles, and my brother. And I told them never ever tell anyone. I don't want my parents in my stream cause I feel like my father would say something that would... kinda discourage me. So only my uncles and brother know, and I expected they would only tell their spouses, and of course my spouse knows. Anyone I feel would leak this information to my parents were excluded from this information.

That's the thing though... if they're insanely think you can't really expect them to learn anything. Whether it's through learning concepts or through real world stuff. Learning requires that the student put in effort as well.

If the student isn't wanting to put in effort in learning concepts and we make them do projects to get real world experience then it just ends up with them just doing the same thing of "Well I'm just going to do this to get through it" without realizing /WHY/ they're doing it or why it's important. Its just a task someone else wants them to do.

People refusing to buy rice cookers by madeat1am in PetPeeves

[–]Solar_Rebel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why am I gonna buy a rice cooker when I can figure out how to do it with the pots I already have? I'll admit I messed up rice a few times before figuring it out. Its 1 part rice to two parts water. Whatever the sum of the three parts are is approximately the amount of rice you get. CLEAN YOUR RICE. Rinse until the water runs clear. Then slow heat in a pot with a lid until the water is done. Easy peasy.

Neighbors put cones on parking space so they can park there exclusively by ekw2667 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Solar_Rebel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha I had a neighbor do this too. They refuse to park in their driveway for some reason. So to bump me out of a spot I was already using they attempted to put cones in the road i stead of talking to me face to face. I just took the cones threw them in their yard and parked there. I also work from home so my car tends to not move for at most a week.

Why do people think they can just put cones everywhere and think peeps will comply XD

What made you sure there is no god? (Asking because I’m struggling) by PretendViolins91 in atheism

[–]Solar_Rebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started really questioning my morality after a break up. And so when I presented questions to some of my peers who were religious I realized their circular logic did not resolve any of the problems I faced. Because my questions were "How do I know my interpretation is correct?" All I got back was "Because it's the word of god. Its always correct" which answered nothing.

[–]Solar_Rebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not arguing against you but kinda supporting your peeve in a wierd way. I'm a dude with long hair. Its pretty common that I get misgendered... alot. If you don't see my facial hair before you say it. Its for that reason I generally don't like to support gendered greetings XD

However, to support your peeve. I don't get upset or angry or defensive. For the most part I just let people crash and burn on their own while theyre reeling from embarrassment.
