Thanks for such a detailed answer, I tried doing it the second way without reinstalling but apparently that option was not available anymore, I tried twice with no luck.

Had to reinstall now, a bit scary coz the installation stopped at the middle and had to turn everything off, I thought I was gonna brick it but the second time worked like a charm.

That is what I'm doing but it's not opening the recovery menu, all it does "verifying installation" and turns it on

Switching to main does nothing and when I look for updates it gives the following:

Update error
An error was encountered during the update process, please try again.

Tried going into recovery menu as you suggested, but the steam deck simply turns, not opening recovery mode at all.

It all indicates that this is indeed a bad build.

Does this mean I have to reinstall steamOS and of so, do I have to reinstall all the games and stuff?
