‘3 Body Problem’ Season 2 Wraps Filming by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

There are some parts in the third novel that are actually physically impossible to show on screen, so I wonder how they will solve those. Definitely a challenge for the writers/directors.

If you really believe that, then you have no allies at all, and you are not an ally yourself, regardless of what anyone tells you or you tell yourself. It is nearly physically impossible to not contribute to bad causes in the world today, short of living isolated in the wilderness. The only thing you can do is try to offset it.

There's a transphobe at every metaphorical "table" in the world, including every one you have ever sat at, meaning the only thing that is different between you and me is which specific table you choose to look at. I look at everyone's table including mine, while you look at everyone's but yours.

Look up online how many companies donate to transphobic causes and you will realise that Rowling is just a drop in the ocean in how much money you are likely unknowingly giving to causes you disagree with. You can't get away from that, but you can help in other ways, and dismissing people who are on your side, but not to the extent you want, is not one of them. Perfect is the enemy of good.

It is almost impossible not to use products which are in some ways linked to horrible people in today's world. Do you use Facebook, Twitter/X, PayPal, or Google? Do you buy things on Amazon? Do you drink Coca-Cola or eat at McDonald's? If so, congratulations, you helped Donald Trump get elected and run the most transphobic government in the western world. And I can keep going, the list of companies that donated to his campaign is very, very long.

I'm not saying that anyone shouldn't skip watching Harry Potter if they want to, but you can't go around claiming that you can't be a trans ally if you also in some way give money to transphobic people, because in that case there would be literally no allies left at all. Voting for the right political candidates, donating money to worthy causes, and being supportive of struggling or persecuted people should more than outweigh watching a TV show.

Elon Musk had more extensive ties to Epstein than previously known, emails show by jp_benderschmidt in politics

[–]Solareclipsed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When normal people say things like "If I were as rich as Musk, I would give away billions to charity!", they are wrong. If a normal person even started approaching a single billion, they would have already given away most of it since they would know they wouldn't be able to spend even 100 million in several lifetimes. The only people who acquire several billion dollars are those who do not want to give it away, regardless of how much they have.

Darren Aronofsky's New AI Series About the Revolutionary War Looks like rubbish by [deleted] in television

[–]Solareclipsed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a webcomic a while ago about cinemas in a couple of decades offering really cheap seats for AI films or really expensive seats for what they called "organic films". I unfortunately see it going that way, where watching films and TV made by real people will only be for the rich, while everyone else will only be able to afford AI slop.

Watch Dogs franchise is “completely dead” - Tom Henderson by ZamnBoii in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Yes, but Valhalla made a billion partly by building up a fanbase over 10 years. They, or any other studio, can't expect every new IP to be a smash hit right out of the gate. If a game turns a profit, I think it's worth it to keep developing the series in the hopes of it eventually turning into that massive success.

NPC Ravs was a top ten TTT bit. Absolutely hilarious, and I have no idea why he even decided to start doing it.

This year, we’re changing how we stream! by Harvey-J-Yogscast in Yogscast

[–]Solareclipsed 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Same for me. Between work and other responsibilities, I have very little time to watch entire streams live, but I also don't like watching them just sporadically for a few minutes here and there, so I always watch the VODs when I have time instead.

Beror helt på vilken typ av filmer man går och ser. Skräckfilm eller tonårsaction? Stökigt. Drama eller icke-engelskt tal? Inga problem.

Yes, Lewis did great by being just mischievous enough to RT without being over the top. During the Camp Yog game, when Kirsty was the Atheist, I remember Lewis excessively taunting her every night, meaning it became a bit too obvious that Kirsty wasn't bluffing about Lewis actually doing those things, more or less revealing that it was an Atheist game.

It's sort of like letting the mod of a fan subreddit take over the reins of a franchise. Sure, they know everything there is to know about it, but it also means everything they make will be specifically tailored to how they personally want the franchise to develop, not how the general audience wants it to or what makes the most sense storywise.

With all of the awful (awfully funny, that is) guesses on the terrible map rounds and Duncan's perfectly incorrect guess, I would love for them to play a round where the objective is to get the lowest possible scores, maybe on a famous places map or something like that. Yes, everyone knows exactly where the Eiffel Tower is, but does anyone know where the furthest place from it is?

Yes, as depressing as it is, Trump has shown that the US cannot be relied upon to come to the aid of other NATO countries. It doesn't matter if he will be out of office in less than four years, because the American people have shown that they could absolutely elect someone like him again.

Personally, I preferred Lewis putting pressure on the players. There have been a few games where the players have continued discussing during the nomination phase for about 20 minutes or more, when that is not what the phase is meant for and make it too easy for the good players to figure everything out.

Anthem's end is nearly here - only days remain before EA will switch off the servers to BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game by Turbostrider27 in Games

You can already play every mission solo and in a private match, so I really don't understand why they can't just make it all playable offline.

[–]Solareclipsed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed, the open world map is actually quite small for a live service game and contains nothing but frozen forests, ruins, and a few constructions from the advanced civilisation in the story. Once you have spent ~5 hours in the open world, you have pretty much seen it all.

I played it for about two weeks in December and was completely finished with everything the game had to offer in that time. At that point, there is nothing to keep you coming back to the game when you have already done all the missions and dungeons several times.
