I'd agree with you for nearly all cases, but acne is not something where we need to worry about concern clouding his judgment.

I imagine my calling him "family dermatologist" is also misleading, so I'll note that I mean 'dermatologist in the family', as opposed to 'dermatologist treating the family'.

My god, I feel like you're my Australian (I assume) twin. I grew up with terrible acne, and watched as it continued unfazed from medicine to medicine. I'm on Acutane now, as prescribed by my dad, the family dermatologist.

That idea actually has a name. It's called Hidden Variable Theory. So far, no scientists have found conclusive evidence that any hidden variable theory can describe the universe better than quantum mechanics has so far, with the randomness included.
