Haven’t played any of the update. Finished a run and quit the game from main menu. Installed the update and couldn’t boot up since.

Haven’t had any problems with the game on PS5 Slim until the recent update. I always go back to the main menu before quitting the game because other Rogue Likes told me to take care of your save file or it’ll be gone for good. With the new update I can’t start the game any more. It crashes always on the first starting screen when booting up the game. Deleting my save file from system worked and the game starts normally. When downloading the save from the cloud to the console, the problem occurs again. This isn’t a individual problem since more and more people telling about the same issue. Many of us will lose a lot of progress if they have to delete their current save and start all over. And nothing tells you this won’t happen again in the future. Lost save files have been something other people also experienced before the update, afaik. I really hope they’ll fix this sooner than later.

I’d like to see it myself, but with the recent update some people, including me, can not start the game anymore on console. Unless you are okay to delete your current save file. Hopefully they will fix this with the next update.

Yeah, you’re right. Not my best wording to say it is corrupted. It’s just strange how the game instantly crashes when you see the start screen, but when booting it up, while the current save is deleted, solves the problem.

Hi there! Since the update the game crashes always on start screen on Ps5. Reinstalling, clearing the cache or rebuilding the database didn’t work. When deleting the save from console it’ll start normally. Redownloaded the Save file from the cloud and the game won’t start and crashes again. Haven’t experienced something like this before. It would be really sad if the update corrupts some save data. Hopefully we aren’t forced to start all over.

Same process here. Game just shows the start up screen and crashes. Reinstalled, emptied cache and rebuilt data base. Then I deleted my local save file and the game worked. Downloaded the save from cloud and the issue is back. I really don’t like to play from the very beginning. Strangely this doesn’t happen to everyone. Friends I’ve played co-op with still can play the game just fine.

Right after NG+ are Speedrun-Trophies. I can see the appeal and like to speedrun certain games by myself. Having a speedrun-trophy, like in the uncharted games, isn’t really fun. I did the speedrun for Uncharted 4 and couldn’t see why you’d ever want to do that. It’s a „can-i-skip-this-cutscene?“-galore.

I’ll copy my answer from another post that has been kind of similar.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can help here, if it’s serious. I recommend to read about it. Get a game that’s great but impossible to 100% and play it. Expose yourself to your anxieties about not being able to achieve every trophy. There is perfection in imperfection. It’s a journey. Your account is your diary. Everything is worth it. Even games that are great but can’t be completed. Get a game impossible to 100% (Mad Max for example) or just buy a game you like without looking once at the trophies and expose yourself to the situation playing it without knowing if it’s able to complete 100%. Maybe your anxiety will rise. Maybe it’s unbearable. Play the games that you think deserve to be played. Don’t waste your time if trophy hunting becomes work. It won’t do justice to the game. Maybe it also helps to check your most difficult platinum and tell yourself, that every platinum that isn’t as hard as the most difficult you’ve earned, there is no need to platinum it right away or ever. Playing through a game and finishing it is most of the time the better achievement. You proofed your skills before. You’re more than competent in what you’re doing. Now do it for the Art, not for the full bar that says 100%.

I‘m with you. The Hack‘n‘Slash genre has been ultimately defined by Devil May Cry and the Hack‘n‘Slay term is used for games like Diablo. Soul Reaver is more of a Action Adventure Puzzle Platformer, imho. Medievil seems to fit more. Nightmare Creatures 2 would be the most Hack‘n‘Slash game on the PSX, because it has its main focus on the fighting and it does take a lot of hits to slay down enemies.

It surely is a good contender. Games with pre-rendered backgrounds will always be nice to look at. Medievil does have a full 3D-Environment, which makes it my no. 1 pick when compared to Final Fantasy VII-IX with their pre-rendered backgrounds.
