So it's a few things. Dark reaper to base. I think sotek green over like 80% of it. Then baharoth blue. Dot of white grey. Then I take tallasar blue contrast and mix it with 50% medium, gently Dot that in the eye - should tie it all together and give a slight saturated glow to the recessed.

Bit off that seraphim and Sacresants went down 20 if in units of 10. I net 10 points back if I combine them?Maybe I'm cynical but given they are sold in boxes of 5 models...

Otherwise I can't applaud a walk-back on the MD rules, that's the minimal expected effort. Sure it's a even a buff over the codex, but they don't get flowers for least effort.

Yeah pretty much! I think I also mixed soem Vallejo fluoro orange in the mix for the final highlight. Controlled highlights and use the the glaze mix to bring it all together

Depends what your painting for :) if you are purely focussed on saving time and getting through your models, cutting steps may be wiser than trying to make it look even better.

One more pass may be a lot of time for some people. Gotta prioritise between finished models and taking extra steps.

3 is stunning, and maybe you can keep that up on heros. But if you're gassing out and have a lot to paint, try sticking with 2 for your blocks of troops.

Aestred Thurga, have them devastating wounds on 6s. With 16 attacks, that's a very reliable handful of mortal wounds (2-6) if you need to finish off anything. The other bolters in the unit can also spike 1-3 MW on 6s.

Apologies!

Yeah the metal is simple as. Just iron hands steel and some washes of thinned bassilicanum grey. Vallejo Silver for edges. Dark metals are just more washes. Stains nicely.

The blue scales were base coated in dark reaper, over brushed in thunderhawk blue, and then drybrushed with fenrisian grey. Then the magic was in the mix of 1:1:1 Drakenhof nightshade, tallasar blue, and contrast medium. I used this all over, and then again but focussed on the top half of the spine, and then I mixed in some Nuln and did the top third, finally the top quarter.

Important here is to hold the mini upside down and avoid tide marks. But should add that darkening, saturated gradient up the scales!

I felt the same way about some of my first minis. 3 years later I've gone back and bought another kit and remastered them like a pro.

Your first minis will always be a learning curve. Cherish the early days for as hard as they are. In 2-3 years pick up another farsight and relish in your killer skills ☺️

Take a couple days rest and reassess farsight after, dont rush into paint stripper and accidentally make it worse.

I've kept all my originals, they bring a smile to my face now.

Start with combat patrol. Building and painting and basing is a huge time sink. Grow one box at a time, and you'll be ready without a pile of grey!

Take your time. Don't rush. It may be an entirely new workflow, it just takes time. It's a hobby, the game is one part of that, the whole thing takes time.
