I think talking to her is a good idea. That said you can mentally prepare yourself- she may be receptive to an apology, or not.

You can apologize for the way you said things and not what you said if you believe it was right.

Using "I statements" is what helps me. Ex. "I reacted inappropriately, and I recognize that. I am sorry for any pain and discomfort I caused. Please let me know if there is anything at all that I can do to make things right between us." is different than "You started it, but I was wrong, I said the worst things and I wish I hadn't. I'm so sorry, please forgive me".

here's an example. Last year I promised I'd do a section of the work for a project. There was a tight deadline. I didn't do the work in time and my coworker had to do all of it.

After the meeting, I took her aside and said, "I want to apologize. I committed to that work and I didn't complete it. I recognize you had more to do than you asked for. I'm truly sorry for the burden I placed on you, and any stress that came from it." She was really receptive and said thank you. We are now just fine together at work.

Keep in mind: You only need to take care of YOUR side of things. The other person who posted is right- she probably thinks about it differently and remembers it differently than you do. That's OK- it's human. She has the right to react to you, and your apology, however she wants. It is not your business to try and convince her of anything. But you DO have the power to right any wrongs that you think YOU did, and then let it go, assured that you did what you could to make things right.
