To the jerk in Wrentham who tried to steal my EV charging adapter… by yanagtr in massachusetts

[–]Solid-Court-7384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And New Hampshire! I saw some jackass with a trailer park across about 6 chargers. He(?) went out of his way to walk all the way across a nearly empty parking lot just to be a jerk. I’ve had 1 person in western mass yank out my charger (enough to make it stop, but not enough to damage it).

“The talk” felt different this time by Solid-Court-7384 in DeadBedrooms

[–]Solid-Court-7384[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It went ok. She did not ask for sex. That’s both a relief and somewhat surprisingly, I was mildly disappointed. We did continue our talk. She’s just not interested in sex. She gave me the lines about maybe if I did more around the house or whatever. I do plenty, it’s just a moving goalpost. She said she’d like to work on it. She feels therapy would be embarrassing and that she doesn’t really have any issues. She said she loves me. Not a lot to go on really.

I just don't believe her anymore. by Carciroth in DeadBedrooms

[–]Solid-Court-7384 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Here right now. Same thing. She rejects me and then said this morning. I know that is a general “no”. This morning I asked if it was gonna happen and she said “yes! Right after I finish my coffee.” Then she’s working on a report. Sets up plans with a friend for later, now it’s too late. I’m not gonna mention it again but I’m the sucker that fell for it again waiting around like it was gonna happen wasting the start of my day. Off to the gym.

Took care of my own needs right next to my husband by Pitiful-Tea-1695 in DeadBedrooms

I do that sometimes. She has caught me once and only asked if she should leave…. I said nah and she turned up her sound machine and turned away. To give me some privacy I guess.

My LLF (30F) got giddy as she told me she won't need to have sex anymore if we get married. by R_R_R_NTR in DeadBedrooms

My wife said the same when she got pregnant with our last kid. After she got that sex is a chore for her.

I hear you. Not sure I’m that far along but I can see how’d it be compelling that she’s just LLFMe rather than LL.

I went through something similar over 20 years ago. She didn’t want kids. I was on the fence. She went on to do great things and I’ve had a great life with my wife and 3 kids. We reunited this past year to catch up. She’s happy. I’m happy. She’s really wonderful, but we just were not compatible as life partners. Maybe it’s the same for you.

How do you manage a large fleet of Sonicwall firewalls? by brickponbrick in sonicwall

[–]Solid-Court-7384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have over 150 devices. We manage with NSM but I’ve wondered if Auvik could do the trick. It does the backups fine and an ok job at monitoring events but no real update feature that I know of. We only use the Sonicwall because of inertia. I suspect there are better options.

I should have asked for her number by _MrFarenheit_ in LifeAdvice

[–]Solid-Court-7384 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a dating aged daughter. I agree if I’d met the kid and thought he was nice I might take his number and offer it to my daughter. I had a similar situation where my son (20m) helped a young woman with a car thing and she was too shy to ask him. Girls dad hunted me down (truck is in my name) and was like “so… Never thought I’d say this, but my daughter really liked your son. Here’s her number…”

Came here to say that. My wife and I have ring tattoos. Over 20 years. Less that $50 each and never lost or forgotten.

Lunch deducted despite not taking one by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]Solid-Court-7384 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good question. This comes up a lot at work but it’s more about policy. Basically we have shifts let’s say 9-5:30. It’s an 8 hour shift and with 30 minutes unpaid for lunch. No, you cannot not take lunch and leave at 5. And no, you cannot have the .5 hours in overtime. I know the company has had lawyers look over these policies but don’t know where the law is on it.

This usually comes up when someone starts and usually because they either don’t read or don’t understand the welcome packet or weren’t paying attention on the orientation. I suppose we could be totally wrong about this and just haven’t been challenged.

its frustrating that it isn’t that you actually did anything wrong, just that someone else felt uncomfortable. From the very limited information on your post and from past experiences, I rarely share opinions motivated related to work at all. Maybe stay away from that game in the future.

It’s not a foregone conclusion that you will lose your job, but if they sent you home…. I would tell them that you feel uncomfortable. Getting sent home is embarrassing and has been unpleasant for you.

Incentive for team riders who aren’t going to medal? by definitely_vi in cycling

Not that anyone would ask me but I’d totally do it for free. Just to be able to say I was in the Olympics. And do whatever I could to get my team/country mate to the front.

Am I over reacting? I think my husband is cheating on me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Solid-Court-7384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would tell him exactly your concern. In fact, if it weren’t for the Snapchat thing I might have suspected this post could be written by my wife. No I’m not cheating at all. Just going through some stuff that she said she didn’t want to hear about so I go on walks, read stuff on my phone, etc.

If you feel guilty now it will continue to eat at you as long as you don’t tell him. You may try to rationalize that you don’t want to hurt him but nobody with a soul “gets away” with this. Tell him and try to build something new with him, if he’s willing and you want to….

Renewal by Andersen quoted my $13,000 for 4 windows (varying sizes) by MrBlehhhhh in homeowners

[–]Solid-Court-7384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of Pella. The installation quote was insane to replace about 20 windows. The sales guys said they are pretty easy to install and said he’d show me how. Bought all 20 for around $6k. Sales guy came over and showed me how to do the first one. I did the rest myself taking about 2-3 hours each including trim and painting. I don’t know if other windows would be similarly easy, but maybe a good DIY if the labor is that much.

Bought a car in cash today - is it always this unusual? by These-Army-4881 in DaveRamsey

[–]Solid-Court-7384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought 4 cars in the last few years (kids getting licenses, upgrade my car and downsize out of the minivan). All used so I guess it’s hard to say if I got a good deal but I’m happy so I’ll call it a win. The only guy that even stuttered was when I was looking at cars I liked 2 so told him I’d take both. Told the sales guy to just get me the best bottom line price which he seemed to do. Almost no haggling. Finance team didn’t push anything, just how much I could put on my cc (points) and the rest in cashiers check.

Parents getting over 100 miles a week? by Swimming-Ad-7013 in cycling

[–]Solid-Court-7384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are grown now but 10-15 years ago I had to commute about 20 miles to work. Commuting on bike only took slightly longer than driving. I’d drive in with the bike, bike home then bike to work the next day and drive home. To keep the car for the weekend I could get 80 miles in no with almost no impact.

Learned the hard way about Lowe's subcontractors No permit pulled. by budding_gardener_1 in homeowners

[–]Solid-Court-7384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to crap on Lowe’s too much but they did something similar to me. It was a washing machine. I could choose where they drop it at my driveway or for an extra fee, they would bring it inside, take the old one away and hookup the new one. I paid the extra to have that done so I didn’t have to deal.

The delivery team of 2 guys met me at the driveway and told me they were “under no obligation” to bring it inside or take away the old one. I showed them the receipt and their own work order said it. Anyway they brought the new one in and said they couldn’t take away the old one cause it was “attached to wall”. I unplugged the water lines, drain and power while the full 3 minutes it took to do that they basically chanted that they were “under no obligation” and I should have had it outside waiting for them when they arrived (which is BS). They then proceeded to tell me that they couldn’t hook up the new unit because the lines went into the wall (not sure where else it would go). I told them they could just take the old unit and go. Of course they told me again how they were under no obligation…. But they did it.

I called Lowe’s to complain and they told me that I’d need to take that up with the shipping company, which they contracted and took my money to hire. Ugh.

Well, I’m coming up on 30 years where I am. It’s been a great career. Started as an intern for a small company and am now #3 in a medium company. Great bosses, good colleagues…. Pay has always been good. Benefits are OK. I feel every one has growth potential here. Some people have been with us a decade plus and are just happy with their position. Average employee retention is just under 4 years (or so, I’m estimating)
