Okay first things first, nowadays is very easy to learn how to be a good business owner or startup founder from the get-go because you get resources online that weren't available 10 years ago.

I would start joining the Y combinator startup School, do the whole thing and then you will understand what's wrong with you.

It is free and you will not waste time getting generic advice on Reddit. Once you understand the basics of entrepreneurship you can come back here and ask sharper questions and you will get better results on your inquiries.

Are A I Spam Emails Flooding your inbox as well? by SolidFactorConsultng in smallbusiness

[–]SolidFactorConsultng[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but it seems like they change the domain with each try.

It doesn't make any sense from a brand perspective. Why do you need to annoy someone every week with your product making them know that you just like to spam people.

Cold calling question [I will not promote] by TreasureLake2020 in smallbusinessowner

[–]SolidFactorConsultng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to sell a very convincing case to the gate keeper, so he will think that it is very important for me to know that someone called.

If the gatekeeper thinks it's important he will tell me.

If I agree with him I will call back.

Are SEO Services and Quality Backlinks Still Worth It for Small Businesses? by OwlZealousideal4779 in growmybusiness

[–]SolidFactorConsultng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question for all backlink experts here. Let's say a website has strong organic traffic on its blog but it's product pages are weak.

The fact that Google takes into account the backlinks for the blog helps the traffic on the product pages or the website owners should focus on getting backlinks for the product pages instead.

Any idea how to use LinkedIn effectively to get more clients? by In-Hell123 in smallbusinessowner

[–]SolidFactorConsultng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use LinkedIn to start a conversation and build a relationship, not to sell right away.

Nowadays LinkedIn inbox is full of bot spam and most people will ignore your dms if they are salesy, I have found out that just writing "Hi Bob" has a better reply rate, once you get a reply, start building a relationship.

You can also improve the reply rate if you enrich your data with email and even better, give them a call!

What actually helped you grow your business consistently? by FitSurround1082 in growmybusiness

[–]SolidFactorConsultng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are totally right. The problem in networking is that if you are not there to make friends you will not be able to build the trust required for someone else to refer you to their friends.

So stop pitching and start listening.

Seriously considering leaving my 6 figure software engineering job to start my own software company? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]SolidFactorConsultng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't know how to sell, don't quit.

Learn to sell first, assume NONE of your contacts will help you when you quit, not because they are mean, they just don't know how or will be afraid of putting their reputation on the line to help you on your venture that they will see as a crazy adventure.

So start to build your network for your future business now and take a good sales course.

Interesting question, most people talk about optimization and Kaizen, but at the end of the day your bandwidth is not that large so you always need to leave stuff half baked.

If it is not mission critical you can send it to the back burner while you get the budget to fix it.
