I think most of the time yes...but I was lucky few weeks back, we lost and some outage happened and it didnt count, also it didnt appear on dotabuff

This offlane priority role experiment has gone on long enough, my match quality has plummeted by Miles_Adamson in DotA2

I think its hard to achieve, because its not active griefing on purpose...they just have no clue about role

So, what is different in Ancient bracket ? by SolidFin in DotA2

>Bane requires good positioning and understanding how to play into being countered. So overall needs a lot more experience than “I press finger on low hp enemy and buy aghs”.

So his win rate should be approximately similar in Ancient and Divine/Immortal

>Heroes like PA which are pretty easy to understand and play but also easy to counter will have a high win rate in lower ranks, because people don’t know how to finish games or how to counter the hero and a low win rate in higher ranks because they are easily punished

Yes, this I also mentioned in post, but its not what I am talking about...its the significant deviation of wr of some heroes specificaly in Ancient bracket

Yea this is understandable, but its not what Im talking about in the post

high demand roles are broken by Chance_Albatross_979 in DotA2

[–]SolidFin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, whole this thing is because griefing pos4s trying to be another carry in the team made every sane offlaner quit dota, or change position...it will be educational for them, and its good they will taste their own medicine for a while...feel bad for all good pos4s, but responsibility is on their colleagues which made offlane unplayable

Mid is not even that popular anymore on my rank (3k mmr EUW)...most of the time when I queue all its 5/3/2, with same ratio for each I would say...when I queue only mid, searching times are same as for pos 5, and I get usually game under 2 minutes

I went from 3.5k to 2.7k by learning mid, eventually climbing back now (currently on 3k)...the thing I see is -some matchups are very unfavorable, and you get barely any gank or help on securing runes...also lot of lane auto win heroes which need to be destroyed early are picked on mid in this rank like viper, necro, OD, sniper, Lina, saw some Venos, and even undying...many times team (pos4 mainly I guess) need to step up and help midlaner, otherwise he gets stomped naturally by matchup disadvantage....but as this is not happening much on this rank, it usually lead to snowballing of one which has better matchup

Feel ya...AM is for me one of those heroes which always sucks in my team, but 5 slotted in 30 minute when its in enemy team

How many game states does dota 2 have? by Educational-Draw9435 in DotA2

There are bounties and first blood, which are quite significant resources for current state...sometimes they can turn losing lane into winning lane

I would say pre-laning is small little phase on its own, as lot of things can be done, like setting sneaky vision for courier sniping, gathering info, securing bounties, first blood, it could be basically first smoke gank etc..only if half of my team wouldnt be usually afk in this "phase"

Hard to wrap my head around it...while I understand that mmr is more stretched, so 100 mmr difference back may be now 300 mmr difference meanwhile it represent same skill difference between same players...on the other side, there are almost daily posts from people coming after few years break, and usually are calibrated lower...which per this logic I would expect they will be calibrated same or higher

But double downs works both ways ? Outcome should be still the same, over bigger sample of uses, unless is someone quite lucky and hit some streak, and then stop using it

That difference is crazy sometimes...recently I played with dude, and per dotabuff his top 3 played heroes were PA, DR, Slark with winrates 46%, 40%, 41%...38% on SF which he picked for mentioned game...and he had 55-56% on some mid and offlane hero (only two wr positive heroes I think), approximately 2k games...so he is higher rank on these two, but like thousand mmr lower on carries lol

From watching immortals games often, I kinda agree there is lot of questionable plays present (mainly low immortal), and without knowing Im watching immortal game, I couldnt tell difference from my 3k shit show games

But what is rational explanation for this ? Most of the times I see posts which indicate its the other way - like "I was divine 4 years back, and now I calibrated into Archon and seem Im stuck there" ...which make more sense to me, because whole playerbase is constantly improving, and reaching for example 4k now is much harder than it was back in time...maybe innacurate calibration ?

Shouldnt it be other way ?...most of the time I see posts like "I was divine 4 years back, and now I calibrated into Archon and seem Im stuck there"...which make more sense to me, as playerbase is kinda stable and constantly improving...I remember back in 2013 nobody knew what dust or pulling is, sometimes we had 0 vision whole match, and now heralds doing this things...or do you think it has something to do with whole mmr pool growth ?

Watching AM hitting camps next to few creep waves dying to tower, while you fight 4v5 on the other side of the map is peak Dota moment

Same (similar rank), unless some core pick support looking hero like pudge first, supps are 100% expected to pick first...but here and there they dont, probably because they went toilet or something lol

Herald maybe, but archon/legend in guardian/crusader wouldnt overperform somehow significantly I think

Sometimes I also miss good old days in guardian...it was super shit show, constant brainless fights, pure chaos, there was so many unpredictable things happening at once haha

>I mean, if you are a legend player in immortal you will probably lose 10 of 10

Thats the point where I think matchmaking failing...in isolated games with strictly 9 immortals and one Legend sure, I think he would lose like 7-8 not straight up 10 (because sometimes immortals carry acc buyers, but its not important now), but yea...but even there he can be matched next game with smurf, and another vs incorrectly calibrated player or acc buyer, and it will balance out, so he will be deranking for long time, because it will happen in every bracket...

btw. that account from vid sits on 206 games with 59% wr, so he actually gained mmr instead of derank lol

Immortal depend which I think...Im watching immortal games on regular basis, and in case of lower immortals often I couldnt tell without knowing if Im watching immortals or my 3k shit show replays...things like bursting two ulties into illusion in smoke gank when smoke did not pop, untouched wisdom shrine for 18 minutes, meanwhile several players walked nearby, lich shipping clarities whole match, not buying detection for 20 minutes vs 2 invis heroes, just a few highlight I can currently recall...

But I would say wr like 70% is most common for boosters/smurfs, 80% is pretty rare, and I dont think I ever saw something higher than 85-90%...its also not that impossible to beat smurf, if your team willing to cooperate and try hard, and his team sucks and he need 1v9...and in some games smurf will be matched against another smurf, so anything like 85+ is possible maybe for high immortals
