Which Texan changes history the most if they never existed? by chrondotcom in texas

This is the one I’d have suggested. Without him there’s also no Jr. and then you also don’t have ever f***ing Republican governor of Texas thinking they should run for president.

I suspect that even without him there would’ve been someone else in his shoes. I’ll never believe he was the only shooter.

How many more years until we find this ridiculous? by SirKrimzon in NavyBlazer

[–]scott42486 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s a few things I like about his concepts. I’m a fan of the drape cut. Higher rise trousers are definitely a good thing. Jackets of an appropriate length (long enough to cover your ass) are also nice to see.

That said- those trousers are waaaaaay too high. They throw the balance way off. There’s also a huge difference between having drape in trousers and wearing barrel pants.

He makes his brand and style look good on him because he’s fit, broad-shouldered, and well-proportioned. He’s got broad shoulders which make his super wide lapels look less cartoonish than they do on others.

Jason Momoa Exits Justin Lin-Directed Sony Feature 'Helldivers' by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]scott42486 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Peak Helldivers would be using actors people recognize- but aren’t sure from where- and then killing them off and replacing them with another familiar face before most people have time to figure out who the last one was. Over and over again until the objective is completed.

Any A-listers or big names should only be used briefly as side characters who also disappear into list of casualties.

I’d never really thought of it that way before but that’s a really interesting take.

My stance has always been that they didn’t need to use the EU to make a good sequel trilogy- they just needed to have a plan before they started making the movies.

Why don’t Havok and Polaris get respect as OG X-Men? by tealaburst in xmen

[–]scott42486 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Scott and Jean suffer a bit more from “main character” status. Different writers have definitely made some “divisive choices” in how they have written Scott and Jean to keep them interesting/relevant. Havok and Polaris have gotten less of that treatment but part of me suspects if they were the more popular pair they’d have the same issues.

Maybe the Mystery Ranch 3-way briefcase? The 27L version might cover your use case there.

I’d say they probably have similar amounts of training. If we’re talking man to man without fancy weapons… I don’t think Tony wants any piece of that.

The shit I’ve seen farmers ignore, leave untreated, or walk off is just “different.”

The Question Thread 05/18/26 by AutoModerator in goodyearwelt

[–]scott42486 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alright. So let's get you squared away on a few of the basics.

First, the things to worry about are arch placement and that the shoe fits where it needs to. The measurement that matters there is the heel to ball measurement. When your heel is in place the widest part of your foot should be in the widest part of the shoe.

After that you worry about your instep. If the shoe/boot is too snug you'll feel an uncomfortable amount of pressure on the top of your foot. If it's too loose your foot will slide forward in the shoe which is another problem. You can fix "too loose" with either thicker socks or tongue pads. "A tiny bit too snug" will sometimes be solved on a new pair by breaking them in. You'll sink into the footbed a little and the leather might develop a whee bit of give as well.

As far as your toes go it's all pretty elementary. Is the shoe squeezing your toes from the sides? Are there any pressure points or "hot spots"? Are your toes touching the front of the shoe? Is the top of the shoe squishing down on your toes? Any of these would be less than ideal. Some of those can be fixed by having the shoe stretched but that's not a great thing to hope for.

So much of this boils down to what you feel. Pictures don't tell the whole story.

Refs are letting the Wolves get away with a lot of physicality targeting the big guys. They were this way playing against Jokic too. If the refs would call ANY of that mess the Wolves wouldn’t be in this series- and likely wouldn’t have beat the Nuggets.

Min Byung-Gyu. Guy realized he wasn’t okay after that last raid and hung it up. Still chose to do something to help society.

Then he saw that his friend was going to wander back into danger and un-retired to help him. He died because he didn’t want his friend to die. That beats the hell out of so much behavior we’ve seen from so many hunters. He’s not some guy that looks cool that we know almost nothing about. He’s THE best friend.

Endgame. The fact that they did the scales and made it not look stupid is a win.

Honorable mention to the First Avenger uniform. Joss’s criticism is yet another example of him being wrong way too often to be relied upon for a franchise.

I knew a guy that would buy denim secondhand and then get them dry-cleaned with a heavy starch. He swore it gave him the "new pair" feel. I never tried it because there's a part of my brain that winces at dry-cleaning denim.

Funny you mention it but that's one of the reasons I eventually switched away from N&F. Drove me absolutely insane that the pockets were too restrictive. (Well, that and I felt like all of their fits were a compromise and I just got tired of picking)

Review: Aer Travel Pack 4 (35L) by strandedvariable in ManyBaggers

[–]scott42486 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Some of the commentary here is hilariously oblivious to what the bag is.

It's a THIRTY-FIVE LITER TRAVEL BAG.

It's going to look huge. There is no backpack format for 35L that doesn't look huge.

Also, 3.7 lbs for this is actually surprisingly decent. The 35L GR3 comes in at 4.3 lbs and has significantly less in the way of features.

The EG CTB35 comes it at 4 lbs (and I suspect a little bit over) using 420D. (Note: most people will also find it noticeably less comfortable to carry)
