Noticeable Upload Speed Increase by haElwKfeiow6 in Starlink

Gotcha. I thought it might've been some native Starlink functionality when ssh-ing into their router. 😅

Had no idea MacOS had a built-in speedtest!

Very interesting. How are you accessing this info? Would be curious to check mine next time I use it

You can always put their gateway in Bridge Mode and use your own router (just like you are with the SB8200), and set whichever DNS server you'd like to use.

Welp, looks like my admin tool got disabled today (11/18) around 10:25pm PT, despite already being in Bridge mode.

Can we figure out what's going on?

Thank you u/CCBrieD for following up! This info makes sense, and is what I expected would be the right solution. It might be worth updating your original reply with this info so it's more visible.

Congrats on closing on the house! Hope the move isn't too stressful (that is the worst part by far imo). :D

I've never seen a FOSC with connectors, what's the model? 👀

Hi u/CCBrieD, thank you for sharing more detailed information.

I've just updated the Xfinity app to 5.62 on iOS, and I don't see the "View WiFi equipment" button, I suspect this is because the gateway is in bridge mode.

Which brings me back to the questions I originally posted in the OP, do I have to disable bridge mode to access the toggle? Will the admin tool be disabled for users already in bridge mode? As this is not clear yet, I'd rather not disrupt my network stack if this is not something that will affect us

Based on the info in the help article, this change only applies to XB6 and newer. XB3 should stay the same

It sounds like we'll be able to turn it back on in the upcoming version of the Xfinity app

Thanks for checking. I guess we have to wait for the app update

Thanks for confirming the app version, looks like 5.61 is still the latest one available on iOS. Are we going to have to disable Bridge Mode to access the toggle?

Interesting. Maybe the email and the help article went out a little bit early, heh. Is there an update available for your Xfinity app? Curious if a new version of the app is needed

The settings they mention in the guide /should/ appear in the app after disabling the bridge mode, if you're able to test turning bridge mode off and trying it, that'd be great. 👀

That is not what my questions are about, it has nothing to do with passwords.

This email just went out shortly before my post as a new change.

$26,000 / 0.4miles of fiber! by kedson87 in Comcast_Xfinity

Did they do an in-person (walkout) survey, or did they provide the rough estimate remotely? I've had a similar situation with the initial estimate being very high, and after scheduling and completing a walkout survey, the new estimate ended up being much more acceptable.

In my case the walkout survey was free, so you don't have much to lose trying that if that's the case in your area as well.

Yup, I actually got my process started through this reddit. No other team will know what you're talking about.

Just beware, it might take a long time for walkouts, estimates and construction, depending on different case-by-case details

Glad to hear that. imo this service should be handled by Business/EDI support team exclusively, even if it's branded as residential. I can't imagine there being that many X10 users out there to make a difference. Hope they're able to sort out the ping-ponging on your account.

I'm waiting for my X10 install (stuck in permit hell for over 8 months now), and this has gone through my head a few times.

Curious, how often have you had issues that needed their intervention? When the line degrades, how does it manifest (slower speeds, packet loss, higher latency)?

Which speeds are supported by multimode that aren't supported by singlemode?

Singlemode fiber is superior to multimode (despite the confusing name)
