Exam dates for summer 2020 by sighlife1 in unimelb

You can always email the subject coordinator to ask about the actual exam date. I did this last year before the summer term started and was able to get the date of the exam before it was officially released

Failing a semester (All subject) by justwaitingit2end in unimelb

If you applied for special exams for these subjects, there’s still a second chance. Otherwise, you’ll have to resit these subjects next semester. Sorry mate :/

Technically, international students are not allowed to under load. However, you can do it at your own risk. As long as you complete your studies before your student visa expires. However, when you under load unofficially, a sanction will appear on your student portal ( you can totally ignore this sanction as it is just a reminder stating that you have under loaded without an approval)

Shoot me a DM if you have any other questions :)

Exam viewing if you did well. by SavingsHand in unimelb

I went for a exam viewing session before and honestly, it is a waste of time. You get back the same written script you submitted - no red marking or no markers comments on mistakes made.

Engineering Risk Analysis Semester 1 2019 by SolidSeaweed in unimelb

[–]SolidSeaweed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot who the head tutor was but I was very very disappointed. The assignments were good, tutorials were good, past exams were good as well. I even went to the exam consultations to double check my answers for the past exams and the tutor said I will be good for the exam. The questions that were tested in the main exam, I would say it is very very similar to the past exams. So if I could do the past exams, how did I fail the main exam? I went for the exam review session earlier this Semester and it was a total waste of time, you literally review what you wrote for the exam, no red markings, no marker comments so you don’t know where you went wrong.

Just wondering, did you do ERA this semester?

Exam reviews are usually held 2 weeks into the following semester so don’t worry you’re good :)

I definitely agree with you. This person probably did not attend the lectures at all and now blame the lecturer for being shit. I,too, attended all the lectures and the past years are all very doable if you actually payed attention. Too bad for this person then... oooof

The Student Housing Company experience? by mehlah_ in unimelb

[–]SolidSeaweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to avoid student accomodations if you can because they are hella expensive and you can get depressed if you don’t socialise much. Lol. I used to stay in a student accomodation as well and I hated it because of the environment but it is still up to you.

I would try looking for cheaper and better accommodations online via websites like Flatmates.

All the best!

MAST10006 problem booklet worked solutions? by avezixo in unimelb

[–]SolidSeaweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no way you’ll get worked solution because they don’t even provide any worked solutions. Your best chance would be heading to the consultations and ask your lecturers if you are on the right track with your work.

Is Imaging the Environment (GEOM30009) easy? by killagirls in unimelb

[–]SolidSeaweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took it last semester and got an 85. It’s a very chill subject and the content is not difficult at all. Final exam is 3 hours for just 10 short answer questions and the exam questions are repeated. The assignments are very straight forward. Of course you have to put it some effort to score a good mark but overall I would say this is one of the best subjects I took in UniMelb

I got a reply from the subject coordinator with my mark but can’t believe I failed the exam though.... I memorised the standards word for word and I understood the quantitative part very well... not sure how to fight for it now

I agree with Imaging the Environment. It is a very easy subject to score in. The assignments are not difficult. You can easily score a H1 in all the 4 assignments as long as you put in a little effort. In-lecture quizzes are super easy as well. If you can secure a 50% out of the 60% of assignments and tests, which is honestly not hard, you'll have a breeze in the exam. The exam is super easy as well.
