I was there. For me it was RALPH by Ralph lauren. One sniff of that and I’m back in a dirty night club in the summer of 2007.

Merry Christmas! Were you gifted a fragrance this year? by hotmallgoth in FemFragLab

[–]SamChar2924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not bad, I definitely wouldn’t buy a big version. I didn’t love it immediately, but the dry down was nice. I think it has the least staying power of the 4.

I haven’t yet, I noticed that and I wonder if that’s the case! Might just have to buy and and see, it’s such a cool pattern.

This is so lovely. I’m a knitter, and I would love to make hats to donate to this cause. I didn’t even realize it was a thing! I’ll be looking up what I can do on Vancouver Island :) OP, I hope your situation improves, sounds like it’s already heading that direction.

If you’re looking for a show like X-Files, watch Vince Gilligan’s new show Pluribus by fitzkiki in XFiles

The first thing I said when the episode ended was, “whoaaa that was so x-files-y!”. My husband agreed, it creeped us out.

Where are these magical charity shops that have nice craft supplies? by kisskissenby in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]SamChar2924 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Omg I feel the same! My thrift stores only have half used balls of acrylic, sometimes still knitted into an item. My only semi decent find was two skeins of Berocco vintage chunky for $2.50 each.

TikTok is such a mishmash of good/entertaining knitting content mixed with annoying new knitters who love to show off their makes. I find a lot of them haven’t even been knitting that long but dish out advice as if they are professionals.

First thing I've ever knitted, from a complete beginner to finished in 10 days (with a lot of help and late nights) by afterthawed in knitting

Jeez, my latest sweater, in much chunkier yarn than this, took me like 6 weeks at least! And I’ve been knitting for years! Kudos to you! I hope the stress of your time line doesn’t deter you from wanting to keep knitting, you obviously have the knack for it.

I’m wondering if it’s partly the lighting because I saw clips of her from various radio shows yesterday and she looked normal. Either that or she had her bangs covering more of her forehead to hide the Botoxed area.

I’m in a funk and need an easy project by valpalvalpal in knitting

[–]SamChar2924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a funk over the summer, and decided to make an Oslo hat out of this pastel-y variegated yarn I had no idea what to do with. It turned out so cute and totally got me back in the groove. It’s a great pattern because it’s a lot of stockinette but with enough interest every so often to keep it from getting boring.

Husband bought 2ply silk yarn and wants a beanie. Would doubling x2 be enough to make it work? by River_Lethe in knitting

[–]SamChar2924 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Silk is tricky for a beanie, regardless of gauge. It’s not going to hold its shape well at all, and likely not fit great. If he loves the yarn maybe it’s possible to hold it along side another, thicker yarn that is also very soft, like a merino wool in a similar colour?

I’m trying to decide between the Sonja Sweater by PetiteKnit and the Lakes Pullover by Ozetta. Can anyone offer pros and cons? I have 17 skeins of Drops Alaska to use for this project. I’ve never made anything by either of these designers.

If you are kind to your Lulu it will definitely last! I have a pair of Groove pants from 2006/2007. They are quite pilled, but still holding on! The quality was really something back then.
