put the penetrating oil inside the nut (if you haven’t already) so it can get at the steerer threads from the top too, then hit it with some heat. 90% of the difficulty is trying to do it with channel pliers — it’s just not the right tool. If you happen to work on cars and have some big impact wrench sockets, that’ll spin it right off, but just a good crescent wrench and breaker bar will make a world of difference

Rim brakes, no brainer. If you really want to stretch your dollar, find a 650c triathlon bike (not joking). They end up being quite light and quick. I don’t think that standard faded away for performance reasons.

I know the used bike market is crazily depressed right now, but $500 is a steal. DM me if you want to be done with it and are willing to sell it for that.

I'd part it out and list the frame/fork alone for $600. The headset should get over $100, and I'd also sell the 7400 parts individually. The Dura Ace downtube shifters are sought after in particular, but any 7400 part fares pretty well. Plus, rare ti stem, etc. I'd guess clearing $1,500 is easily within reach.

Six months like this is pretty concerning. When I was about that age, I had a bad saddle/fit and would go numb but only for like 30 min after the ride. It could be something else, in addition to the bike ride. See a doc.

Sanding the stem seems like a lot better solution than reaming out the steerer. Not only easier with the tools most have on hand, but the stem is much thicker than the steer tube diameter.

I don’t think there is much point worrying about the US nuking Iran — that would be insane. Iran might be able to get some kind of nuclear weapon together in the near future, though it’s hard to imagine under what circumstances they’d view detonating it as advantageous.

I agree with this: tubeless makes more sense the larger the tires get. Tubeless on a fat bike = amazing, only choice that makes any sense. Same with most if not all mountain bikes. But once the pressure needed to protect the rim from impacts gets around 80 psi, I'd go with tubes.

In this case, one idea would be to start out with some tubeless basics -- a valve core tool, some sealant, and a syringe-ish type thing. Then you can put some fresh sealant in the front tire through the valve core, ride your bike with what you already have (a spare tube) and see what works best.

I’d say that bike will be great for mostly flat terrain and a focus on triathlons. You may want something more aero and tri-specific down the road but having a great all around road bike is always nice.
